My OTA is not working anymore. This started after the latest update. I have the OTA dongle with a OTA antenna that I've been using for years. My hopper does not recognize the dongle anymore and when I go to the OTA setting, it has a screen that says to plug a dongle into the USB. I tried unplugging and plugging back, in the same usb port and other ports. The Hopper does not recognize it. Anyone have same issue?

From everything I am seeing this issue is ONLY happening with the single tuner OTA adapter, please correct me if someone is having the issue with a dual tuner adapter.

That's enough....fix the issue or at least send existing customers a FREE fix rather than sending work orders to retailers like me, expecting ME to fix something you KNOW I can't fix.
Sorry for the rant but unless you lace MY shoes, don't judge.

I'm not judging you, and I definitely appreciate the knowledge you bring to the forum. However, Rick and Brittany have been very helpful over the years also. I don't think you should be calling them out publicly on the forum, especially for something they probably have very little control over. Get a private room for your family squabbles. :)

That's the problem we retailers face on a near daily basis. I am constantly told that either I'm the only having a certain issue, when I've talked to multiple dealers facing the same thing. Or, I get no response.
It is VERY frustrating to be bombarded with irate customers when I have actual work to do.
I have YET to get a single piece of communication explaining this issue or any type of fix or update. The ONLY way I knew that this was a problem was because of THIS forum....otherwise I would have gone out to the first customer's house with no clue as to what I was facing and probably would have wasted a lot of time, effort and money trying to solve a problem that is, as of now, unsolvable. I would have replaced the OTA adapter, which wouldn't solved the problem. I would have swapped the H3, which would not have solved the problem. Many hours of MY time would have been utterly wasted, whereas a simple heads up email would have cleared things up.
The "that's not my dept" line is not well received these days by those of us in the trenches.

You can reach out to me directly with any issues you encounter, I work with Retailers on a regular basic, mainly ones who I met at Summit a couple years back.

If you're a retailer/installer and feel as if you are not getting sufficient information regarding any issue from the business, please reach out so we can remedy this.

Why can't DISH send out replacement ota tuners for 2 ota channels at a time and get rid of the single ota tuner? That seems to be the best way to fix it , unless they have a software fix that can be downloaded quicker. But, I haven't seen things fixed that quickly before - when I had a software problem that broke something.

We are working on a solution with other internal teams. As much as I would like to be able to instantaneously fix everything, we unfortunately need time to better understand what is happening and why.

Once we have a solution, I am happy to share here.

For several years, I received DISH TVLand 106, FETV 82 and ION 250 in HD. In the past year, these channels went from HD to SD. Over several months, I chatted/called DISH 4 times. First time I was told it was a software issue which would be forwarded to their engineering dept for a software update to my receiver. Waited a week and called back. Was told that the software update could take weeks but they were working on it. Third time, I was told their satellite needed to be adjusted. It was expensive to adjust and complicated, so no estimated time given for fix. Fourth time, I was told I was too far away from the eastern arc (I live in N. CA). I asked how that could've of happened after all these years and why I've been given 3 different explanations. He couldn't tell me and wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor. A few days ago I noticed more channels are now in SD. It seems like DISH is going backwards. I'd just like a straight answer and an estimated time for the fix. I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem. I'd hate to pay more for DIRECTV and lose my DVR recordings but it looks like these channels are available in HD on DIRECTV.

TVLand is one of those channels one has to change the aspect back and forth to watch a program in the correct aspect ratio. For example, if you watch "The King of Queens", you must set the Aspect to "Zoom" so the program displays correctly in full 16:9. Commercials will also display correctly. But if you watch "The Andy Griffith Show", you must set the Aspect to "Normal" to watch it correctly in 4:3. Commercials will then appear letterboxed.

FeTV is similiar but I think most, if not all of their programs, are 4:3 native so you must leave the Aspect set to "Normal". Only commercials will then appear letterboxed. A pain, but at least Dish gives you that Aspect button on the remote to make the changes.

I have not noticed any additional aspect channel changes in the past few days. So I am wondering if they are done making changes. If so, they still have not 1, not 2, but 3 different formats they are broadcasting SD channels in.

"Unofficially" I count:
37 SD channels where you must set the Aspect to "Normal"
7 SD channels where you must set the Aspect to "Stretch"
23 SD channels where you must set the Aspect to "Zoom" or depending in the program, change to "Normal" (Mainly TVLand and FeTV)

I am surprised they never had the HD feed for TV Land. Which is strange as it is HD if you use DIsh Anywhere.

The same can be said for the Encore Channels, Oxygen, Hallmark Family, FeTV, Movieplex, Disney XD, Boomerang, TeenNick, Grit, Laff, StartTV, H&I, and many more...
All of which are in HD on Dish Anywhere, but are in SD on satellite!

Wow! I remember this aspect ration confusion from around 25 years ago. I came up with a simple solution for me: Only watch the HD channels! I'm not sure if I should be surprised that nothing has changed since then. The aspect ratio issue is difficult, since black bars bother some people, cutting off the tops and bottoms of the image bothers some people, and distorting the image ("stretch") bothers some people.

And that's why I don't understand (especially since the addition of all the streaming BonusView channels and some of the streaming HBO/Cinemax channels) why they don't give us the HD DishAnywhere feed in the guide, and let us choose which to favorite (and subsequently watch and record from).

The Tinsel Town Theater we just left had Spiderman play in like 7 or 8 theaters, every hour on the hour starting another one. We hit the 12pm movie. We just left the theater and got home. This movie is going to make a ton this weekend alone. They had it in rumble vision and 3-D and normal HD as well as well as XD and Nicer seats too. :biggrin

IF you saw the other movies in the series, YES. IF you haven't seen them it won't register as strong, since it is about Peter Parker and his friends who don't remember him, due to what happened in the last movie. Cool tie in with another franchise as well.

Saw it, thought it was great! Hit all the right notes.

A good deal of the emotional pull in the movie is about what has happened in the others. It will not translate.

I read Tom Holland is looking at a $100 million dollar bonus from his latest Spider Man movie. It has made over $2 billion world wide now. That bonus is on top of the $20 million he wanted up front to play him. The bonus could still go up with the amount they continue to rake in on ticket sales. Not bad for a decade of work playing the character. :biggrin

Well lets see LL Cool J has been cancelled on NCIS L.A. and then went to NCIS Hawaii and they got cancelled, and now he will be on NCIS New York? How long before they cancel that too? He seems to be bad luck.

Scott Caan was ok on Hawaii Five-0, but liked the dynamic between him and his costar Alex O'Loughlin on the show. He wasn't that great in the Fox show Alert: Missing Persons Unit he did for a couple of years. He seems to keep playing the same character with different names. One trick acting.

Portland does as Portland does. One short yellow, green the rest of the way. Turn One at the start ended up being really clean. Friday was baking and the alternate tires were falling apart, but lower temps over the weekend led to the reds managing the track better. Not much passing. The straddling of the reds and blacks helped an other just fast cars driving race have a bit more drama.

Qualifying was interesting. Dale Coyne saw both cars get out to the second round and Veekay, who'd been near the top in practice also followed through. Grosjean would suffer some bad luck as his team apparently was short a set of rims, which meant he had no sticker set of reds for the Round of12. He wasn't pleased. It was odd as Coyne's cars weren't showing any pace in practice, but things were righted by qualifying. Veekay would get into the fast six, along with Palou, Rosenquist, Kirkwood, and Power. Rosenquist nudged Palou out of the pole position by 0.02 seconds.

Ultimately, this is about how the race finished as well. Veekay slipped back to sixth after a couple pitstops, but the final stop saw JHR get Veekay released before Kirkwood and Ericsson and finish in 4th, a repeat of Mid-Ohio's outcome. Kirkwood needed to pit early with a tire going down, which likely meant a tad more fuel needed in the stop. Palou's stint on reds was insane, both in speed and duration. Palou is just nuts and that was generally enough to ensure he'd stay out for the win. His victory ties him with Gordon Johncock for 17th most wins in Indycar/USAC history. That was Palou's 104th race. Johncock raced in 262 races. ECR looked like crap. Lundgaard had a dreadful qualifying, but was able to pass himself up to about 10th for a decent finish. Poor Armstrong, 3rd race in 4 that saw his engine go out. Quite the alternative to Rosenquist finishing 2nd.

Onto Markham, Ontario for the next race. Veekay podium'd there last year via fuel saving strategy. He isn't using quirks to finish higher this year.

Palou holds a 110 point lead, a fifth title seems assured. This leaves Malukus and Kirkwood to fight for second. Malukus has had a very quiet season despite fighting for second overall. Veekay is in 10th with 9th maybe being the glass ceiling unless they pull off something in Milwaukee. It'd still be his best season. Veekay could podium, but the JHR car has a lower ceiling than Ganassi.

Silly season remains silly. JHR has an option on Veekay. Ganassi has the picks of Hauger, Veekay, or maybe more likely (?) Lundgaard, who knows about an NXT driver. Ganassi was interviewed during the pre-race warmup and if Ganassi was high on signing Veekay, he sure the heck didn't emote any hints that he was.

Well, Markham has come and gone. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Literally. Friday practice didn't happen because the track wasn't ready yet.

Saturday was a day full of racing and anxiety. Fox One has been struggling to properly carry things. And drivers were getting used to a new track that had uniqueness and some... well they apparently didn't bring enough jersey barriers or a measuring tape. The hairpin was a bloody mess. Instead of a proper hairpin, it was literally just an end to the jersey barriers. This lead to major issues in the race.

The drivers acclimated to the course, some better than others. Louis Foster, of all people, perfected the lap. Blowing out just about everyone but Palou! Half second, I think. Come qualifying, it was nuts. Dale Coyne drivers were all of a sudden competitive. making the fast 12. JHR did well with Veekay who managed to slot into the Fast Six... again! The fast six included six teams with RLL winning the pole and Dennis Hauger qualifying in the top six. This is awesome!

But then the race started. And what made for great qualifying didn't make for great racing. Passing was extremely hard. Lundgaard had a slow start and that screwed over Veekay as he couldn't get by Hauger who would be losing close to a second a lap, and because they are all driving to the same fuel numbers, there is not enough speed differential, and Veekay is stuck. JHR make a bad decision to pit Veekay, so he isn't stuck behind Hauger... but the pit lane is short, they get him out in 6.6 seconds... and now he is stuck behind other cars. BLEEP!!! His race is boned. No way to get around that now. Foster was having a much better than expected race. His practice/qualifying performance was unexpectedly happening in the race. Even after the first pit stop, he came out looking good.

Then after the first yellow, Indycar started the demolition derby part of the race. A lot of it at the hairpin where there were multiple lines, but really only one exit. Cars were backing up, trying not to stall and there was lots of contact. It started looking dumb. Much more yellow than green. Foster's race would end in a pass on Ericsson in a hard hit straight into the wall. Then... about 35 laps remaining, there is a yellow. Everyone pits, except for Andretti, as they can make the finish one that last stop, with enough fuel save. The entire world slapped its forehead at the obvious stupidity of Andretti of not pitting Ericsson who was leading and Power. That was totally going to bite them in the end.

Grosjean inherits the lead after Ericsson went on a time trial and gave himself a 17 or 18 second lead on Grosjean before pitting. The race has calmed down... as everyone but Will Power and Marcus Ericsson are in fuel save mode. Grosjean is safely ahead, but then something weird happens. The Andretti cars aren't in fuel save mode, and are driver 0.5+ second faster laps. With the very short pit lane, the drop from pitting under green isn't that bad. Ericsson races forward, passing cars that are sipping fuel, and even Grosjean has to give up his spot.

The idiots in charge of Andretti turn out to the ones capable of doing math and get the race win and a third on the podium as well. Grosjean finishes in second, repeating Veekay's performance in Greater Toronto last year, that too on the alternate fuel strategy. Thanks to the demolition derby portion of the race, Veekay was able to manage a 7th place finish despite the extended fuel save (he was in 5th) and having nose cone damage from making contact on Palou's car in the hairpin.

Kirkwood crashed out, so the Championship race is a tight one for second. Palou has it all but wrapped up now with another top 5 to his credit.

A side note on Palou. He has finished in the top 5 more than 2/3's of his races. He has won more than 1/5 of his races. Podium'd about half of them. He has won 6 races this season, in what has been a 'lackluster' to some season for Palou. In all of USAC/Indycar history (going back to 1905), only 74 drivers have won 6 races or more in a career!

Still hate the street course racing. I rarely watch anymore and only if it's an oval or true road course race.

A little Freedom 250 humor. The race course makes so much more sense now.

Hello folks, well my luck ran out last week with a nasty thunderstorm and after 39 years here, finally took a hit. Now, the FTA receivers I had for some years worked great until now. Recently picked up a fairly cheap receiver, online, KOQIT and seems to be good, but for the life of me, I cannot get the HDMI output to work with 3 of my Samsung monitors. I can hook it up to my Samsung TV and its HDMI input and it works fine. The 2 receivers I lost also worked fine with them, so am I going crazy? anyone have come across this or have any suggestions? And, since this is a somewhat cheap unit but works, what is everyone out there using for receivers these days? without breaking the bank? I enjoy watching FTA TV, so I will invest more if needed, what is a really good, detailed unit these days. I'm so use to watching a few of them HD channels. Right now I'm down to composite hookups, yuck! Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Frank

My first thought is the lightning damaged the HDMI ports if the receivers were lost if connected during event. If another device is connected for testing such as a DVD player or similar, does the HDMI operate as designed?

Perhaps the KOQIT STB is set to a video resolution outside of what the monitor can display is another possible reason.

Hi, oh, I had a GTMedia receiver that I enjoyed using, that one I used the HDMI on the same monitors and all was fine. My monitors are fine, the GTMedia receiver and power supply both were hit, thru the power surge. The KOQIT receiver is "Brand new", my replacement, that's the one I cannot get the HDMI to work on my 2 Samsung monitors, it does work on my Samsung TV in the loving room HDMI connection no issues. Just these monitors for some reason. Either it flashes, or on for a second, pink screen, or just nothing, black screen. Monitors are only 2 years old.

Oh, with all the kind members out here, share what receivers you are using, I have seen some nice images that show some pretty good signal info on the screen, would spend a bit more if I had to in order to get a mid range, nicer unit that won't give me any issues and work to whatever I hook up to it. Anyone?

When the KOQIT receiver is connected via the HDMI to a monitor it operates with, what AV settings are selected in the setup menu? Refresh rate also is a consideration if set to 50 Hz as well. A mode such as 576i, 576p, 2160p if 4K may not work. Try something like 720p- 60 Hz for example as a baseline to start.

A quality known working HDMI cable if available to test with. Best practice to only disconnect and reconnect with the devices on each end powered off. HDMI port electronics are sensitive to transient power surges particularly on equipment without grounded power cords.

Well believe or not, with all the frustration I have been dealing with replacing damaged items in the house from a lightning hit, after my GTMedia FTA recevier and power supply went, I failed to check the monitor that was hooked up to it. Assuming it was just the unit, my PC has 2 HDMI outputs, thinking about it, I put my second output on that monitor and sure enough, the HDMI is gone, won't detect the monitor on the PC. I put the new FTA unit on another monitor which is my security system and there it was, the KOQIT receiver was on the screen, what a relief, but feel like a dum ass for not checking that. Now looking for a good, quality, USA FTA to invest in beside this model, any recommendations? Today was spent changing out the pool pump timer that blew and replacing the security DVR system that was damaged. Thanks

I'm using a GT media v9 Prime, but they're no longer sold new. Which is unfortunate as its my favorite, super easy to use and intuitive. I bought a couple more luckily before they quit selling them, so I have backups for a while hopefully. I was not impressed with the Amiko 4K unit as far as functionality, haven't tried any others.

As Casey says, check ebay and any other online marketplace such as facebook, kijiji (Canada), etc. You will need to look hard since Ku USALS motors are as rare as hen's teeth. I don't think you will find new but you never know. Motors are heavy so shipping will add to the price.

I found a Stab HH120 rotator, like new, last summer locally via an ad on facebook marketplace. The seller wanted US$15 so I offered full price! I don't think he had any hope of ever selling it since there aren't too many FTAers around here anymore. I used up a lot of luck by finding this.

Went to college in Cookeville, now living in Johnson City TN area, don't have anything for sale, but welcome! Other than LNBs I got most of my stuff cheap/free. Used Hughesnet dishes are a great starter for Ku. Got my 10 footer from a guy 1/2 mile from my house. Concrete and steel pipe cost more than most anything else I've paid for in this hobby lol

I've been experimenting with a 3-pack of Hughesnet 90cm dishes. Just need to get my LNB mount replacement fabricated and onto the arms, then pole mounted for more permanent testing.
