Required a reboot.

2026-07 Update (KB5121767) (26200.8894)
This replaces the Patch Tuesday KB5101650 update on certain Dell computers that suffered battery drain, poor performance, overheating, and unexpected shutdowns due to the patch.

Bleeping Computer said:
However, the root cause is a change introduced in the June 2026 KB5095093 preview cumulative update that causes a conflict between the new Windows USB-C Connection Manager interface and the Intel Innovation Platform Framework (IPF) Processor Participant driver.
Various articles note that the patch may apply itself to non-Dell computers.

Bleeping Computer is becoming a must-visit around the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Not a surprise, Starlink has really picked up a lot of former Hughes customers, both consumers ( which Hughes stop offering service to new subscribers) and businesses.

They started losing subscribers well before that-

Subscriber Timeline
  • December 2020: 1.56 million subscribers (peak around Starlink's launch)
    Early 2022: 1.4 million subscribers
Late 2023: Over 1 million subscribers
  • Q1 2025: 853,000 subscribers

I'm surprised that Hughes didn't file for bankruptcy sooner. I haven't seen a Hughesnet dish in my area in about 3 years. Everyone in my neck of the woods dropped them for Starlink as soon as they could.

Directv stream making me angry
Trying to watch the NASCAR race and when TNT 'goes to commercials' they overlay some stupid 'local' commercials. Yes all I have to do is switch channels and go back to the regular feed but the issue is Directv isn't 'going to commercials'.
Yes they are showing commercials but they are doing the split screen so you can still see the race just not hear the audio.

I get they (TNT) like to give you 'local commercial crap' but don't do it during the race when it's a split screen!!!

If you can, watch it on HBO Max. During the race, when there's a commercial break, you get the full screen of what they are showing on side by side with no talking or commercials.

it's now a moot point, Sunday was TNT Sports last race of the season (outside of practice/qualifying and the in car cameras) as this weekend is NASCAR's last off weekend before the final stretch of the season, also starting with Iowa, USA/NBC takes over for the remainder of the season.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone with deep Hopper 3 experience can help solve a mystery.

I currently own several Hopper 3 receivers, and I've noticed something interesting:

  • Some Hopper 3 units receive infrared (IR) commands with no problem.
  • Other Hopper 3 units, same model, completely ignore IR commands.
  • All of them work perfectly with RF voice remotes (52.0 / 54.x).

I've already confirmed that:

  • The IR remote itself works.
  • The IR commands are correct (verified with a learning remote).
  • The non-working Hopper responds normally over RF.
  • Factory reset and software updates do not change the behavior.

I also found that some Hopper 3 units have the external Remote Antenna connector, while others don't, although I understand that's for RF, not IR.

What makes this even more confusing is that I've seen references suggesting that unpairing the RF remote may re-enable IR reception on some Hopper 3 units, but I haven't been able to reproduce that consistently.

So my questions are:

  1. Is IR hardware present in every Hopper 3, or were there hardware revisions without an IR receiver?
  2. Is IR controlled by firmware?
  3. Is there a hidden Diagnostics or Service menu that enables or disables IR reception?
  4. Has anyone seen different behavior between different software versions?
  5. Is there any known procedure to force a Hopper 3 back into IR mode?

I'm not asking how to pair an RF remote. I'm specifically trying to determine why two Hopper 3 receivers of the same model behave differently with infrared commands.

This discussion is purely for educational purposes and out of technical curiosity. It all started after a friend asked me why two Hopper 3 receivers of the same model behaved differently with IR remotes, and I realized I couldn't find a definitive technical explanation. I'm simply trying to better understand how these receivers work.

Any technical information, service documentation, engineering notes, or real-world experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There's a setting in the Remote section to toggle IR on and off, and all Hoppers should have the antenna.
You're digging WAY too deep into this.
Bobby
All Hoppers should have the antenna. It is how the Hopper communicates with the Dish remotes, models 40, 54, and 60. It is a specialized antenna and you must use the one that is designed for the Hopper. As HipKat mentioned you can enable IR by using the Dish remote and pressing Home twice, go to Remote Control, and drop down the list to Infrared Reception and turn it on.

I watched the three main soaps on ABC back in my 20s because I worked grave yards stocking and would watch them on my VCR in the afternoons when I got up after sleeping in the day. When I went to a dept. manager in the mornings, my buddy from the other department at Safeway and I would often go to eat at Mr. Ghatti's Pizza on our lunch break and they had a big box screen TV in the 80s we could watch the soap on which was All My Children at noon. "Tad the Cad" was our favorite soap guy. He was the shampoo guy at his birth mother's beauty shop and he seduced both mother Marion and her daughter Liza at the same time. Loved it when they both found out about the other.

Talk about "Love in the Afternoon" with Fireworks! :biggrin

The best I could do was remember the name of the soap everyone was watching (All My Children). You could rip my finger nails out and I couldn't give you character names or plot info. :biggrin

Mama Foxbat was big into soaps, "Ryan's Children" was one I remember, and a young Kate Mulgrew before she got her Captain's pips.
