    Auto Hop Explained

I'm very curious to know how this works and am pretty sure there are not markers in the stream. I was able to tour a TV station a few times and met the guy who inserts the local commercials. He literally sat there and flipped a switch and logged the fact that they were inserted as promised. I...

    Engadget review of Hopper

Yeah, the comments on Engadget can be hard to read, less than 1% of our readers comment, I assume it isn't the brightest 1%. Thanks for the kind words, I updated the post about PBS being available in some markets and emailed my Dish contact to get the MSRP on the Hopper and the Joey so I can...

How Dish's 1080p is going to work...

These quotes mean nothing without the frame rate. I assume you mean 1080i60 and 1080p60. If so, I agree. But if you mean 1080i60 vs 1080p30, then I don't. As for 1080p60, show me any examples available to consumers. There aren't even any Blu-ray titles that offer 1080p60 as most are 1080p24...

    XstreamHD Needs Your Input!

Having both is nice and is getting to be expected on high end Blu-ray players. The current Samsung BD-UP5000 has 7.1 discrete analog outputs as does the just announced Sony BD-Sp550. Obviously HDMI is easier for both bitstream and LCPM, but some have older AVR/amps that are perfectly fine...

    Sony 300 is horrible

Enjoy your low bit rate cropped and dumbed down 5.1. Personally I'll go make some popcorn while I'm waiting for the Blu-ray disc to load. Also, HD DVDs aren't any better. The latest HD-A30 takes 1 minute and 30 seconds, just to turn on and eject the tray.

It must have been updated, that wasn't in the original version I saw.

    DIRECTV HD: No Expansion Yet

Not sure why you guys post this stuff here. First they use the information from these forums and don't even have enough respect to mention the source, but instead say "across several internet sites". They know where they read it, but are too full of themselves to even mention the forum, never...

He's not even good at that, how difficult is it to link to the source? You're using their content, the least you can do is promote their site with a link. SkyREPORT.com - Satellite Industry Daily News, Information, Data and Research for direct-to-home, DBS, C-Band, Local Channel, Broadband...

    HDMI vs. Component

Both can devliver equal PQ, but don't always. There is a conversion process when you use a digital TV and a Digital STB, with component cables, but if this conversion is done properly then there will be no difference. Some TVs are known for having very poor component inputs, while others are...

    Work at home jobs?

I do freelance writing for Weblogsinc.com, they are owned by AOL and very reputable. Personally I write for EngadgetHD, but they have lots of blogs about just about anything you can think of. They pay per post and have full time work from home jobs as well.

Why does FOX pillar-box HD shows?

Also to note is that FOX has no problem confusing people with widescreen SD, they have actually done this longer than anyone and for years were convinced that no one could tell the difference between their FOX Widescreen and true HD. Currently there are a few shows still presented this way...

    Exchange Help!

Very well, if this doesn't work, then you need to verify that logging is enabled on the SMTP service of the 2003 server, then verify that Message tracking is enabled for that Exchange Server, under it's properties in ESM. Send a message, check the queue and then examine the smtp logs for errors...

    Exchange Help!

Not sure why you posted this here, and I've never seen anyone run 5.5 and 2000 at the same time, but if configure a SMTP connector on the 2003 server for your outgoing mail it should resolve your problem. If all mail has to route through the 5.5 server then configure the new connector to use the...
