SatelliteGuys FIRST LOOK - DISH's Hopper and Joey

Also, I assume Box A you started viewing from needs to left on or the buffer will be lost. Then when you finish on Box B and shut it off, Box A is still tying up a tuner. If Box C later finds 2 tuners on timers and Box A in use, it could just take over Box A's tuner knowing (or maybe not) it...

New LNB coming for Eastern Arc?

It's in between. Actual dimensions can be found at EKB: Dish Types.

Part 2 of the test: While one viewer is watching live on the tuner that's recording PTAT, can another viewer also join that tuner and watch a different PTAT channel?

SatelliteGuys FIRST LOOK - DISH's Hopper and Joey

Scott, great write-up! Retweeted and added to the EKB page last night. Coincidentally, I put up a new page EKB: PrimeTime Anytime only about an hour before you posted your review. Could you help with these questions? 1. When a program is saved to your DVR space, is that a move or a copy...

SatelliteGuys FIRST LOOK - DISH's Hopper and Joey

It actually requires 2 lines from a DPP switch (the duo node takes 3). DPP takes part of 2 LNBs, leaving one in the legacy freq range and stacking the other in the DishPro range. I believe the node is taking part of the 2nd DPP output and stacking it into the new higher dpX range. The duo...

    Hopper news updates

The limit on a 2-Hopper system is 4 Joeys due to bandwidth limits on the local MoCA network. I was told that could possibly be raised depending on real-world results once these are in the field.

VIP timers: best way to recreate on Hopper?

Some screens have commands across the top. You can either cursor to them or you can notice there's a color splotch next to the command and press the corresponding color button on the remote. Also, the color-button shortcuts I tried were the same as the 922, see http://www.dishuser.org/922supp.php

    DISH HOPPER SPEC SHEETS

The Solo and Duo nodes take 2 and 3 of the receiver outputs of an existing DPP switch. If there's an output open, it should be able to go to any receiver even going back to legacy. One of the install diagrams shows a ViP receiver on that output, and I spoke to an employee using such a setup...

DISH Network Retailer Chat Recap - "Hopper Special" - 2/16/2012

I have a 922/622 combo on 1 TV, with TV2 output to my roommate's room when he's here. 2 tuners even with OTA wasn't enought even for just me. PTAT would make up for losing some tuners but I still need the OTA add-on. I'm ready to relieve myself of the price gouge of a second Duo DVR. 1H/1J would...

    DISH HOPPER SPEC SHEETS

The 921 could indeed record from its ATSC tuner (probably wouldn't have gotten one if it didn't), but when doing so only 1 of the satellite tuners was available for recording. IIRC, I could watch OTA live while the sat tuners were both recording.

    DISH HOPPER SPEC SHEETS

The 921 had 2 satellite tuners and 1 OTA tuner, but could only record from any 2. Every DVR with OTA since has been able to record from all the available tuners at once. I anticipate Hopper will continue that trend.

2012 Windows laptop: features to look for

One feature I'd like is UEFI, the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface that replaces BIOS for faster boot times. I don't know how it's being marketed or what it does to the price. Or maybe the combination of Win 7 and a modern processor compared to my current XP and Pentium M 1.7 will leave me...
