    New Fee

That would require telephone or power poles. Those do not exist in extremely remote locations. No cable, no landlines, no cellphone towers, no utility power, no OTA broadcast stations within your line of sight, no true broadband. Where satellite TV and satellite internet are the only options...

Good HDMI caputure card for PC?

I also use the View HD VHD-1X2MN3D Splitter. The HDMI splitter output connects to a YK940 4K HDMI 1080P HD Video Capture Box. The HDMI output from that connects to my 4K TV. The USB output connects to a computer, which can be used to record/playback the HDMI signal using the software that was...

    H3 Prob or ??

When houses are wired, many homes have outlets daisy-chained with romex, where the wire ends are stripped and plugged into holes on the back with spring-loaded contacts. This is very common when electricians are rushed or low-balled for the cost of a job. It's not unheard of for half a dozen or...

Wireless Joey speeds slow, anyone else?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed how much slower the Wireless Joey is at responding to the remote, compared to my Hopper 3. Thank goodness, the guests that use that room don't seem to notice the difference because they have nothing to compare against.

It's a Sharp LC55P6000U, and I tried all 43 of the Sharp codes listed after the update. Code 30 of 43 does operate the volume, but when I press volume down it also changes zoom setting, and volume up also selects the USB port as a video file source. None of the other Sharp codes work. I just...

    Check switch Status progress

I had the same setup. I cut off the center tab on the plastic LNBF mount and attached the DPH LNBF. The dish will only get 77 at that point. You can re-aim the dish to 61.5 and 72.7 to use until your new dish arrives. I'm running mine that way until my new 1000.2 EA dish arrives as well. You...

    Hopper Self Install?

They tried pulling that on me as well, said it was mandatory. I told them no way, I own all of my equipment and I always do my own installs. They activated it and I was watching TV, in standard definition only. The hiccup was a Mr Dish tech support guy told me the wrong orbitals to aim my Hopper...

I updated mine to U508 at 4:19 PM today. It did not help with adding a working remote code for my new 4K TV. One of the drawbacks of buying a brand new model TV I guess. I put in a request with Dish to work it into a future update.

ViP222K removed from my account after Hopper 3 purchase

You know, this reminds me of a court case that I was involved in regarding General Instruments over their VideoCipher technology. General Instruments started deactivating VC-II units because they wanted customers to return them in exchange for newer VC-II units. Because of my position in the...

ViP222K removed from my account after Hopper 3 purchase

So true. I started out as an FCC licensed (1st Class) broadcast engineer, then I was hired by the Department of Defense for the Directed Energy program (Strategic Defense Iniative - aka Star Wars program). I spent decades in aerospace, including satellite design and launches, aircraft and...

ViP222K removed from my account after Hopper 3 purchase

Update! I re-connected my ViP222k, then called Dish to add it back to my active receiver list. While I was waiting on hold for them to answer, I was watching TV on it. It was still activated because I had it disconnected when they sent the deactivation sequence for that receiver ID. The guy...

ViP222K removed from my account after Hopper 3 purchase

I aligned the dish for the 61.5 and 72.7 orbitals today. All is working as it should. I called Dish about the ViP222k and they said it's still on my account and can be reactivated at any time. The smart card was to update it so that it could continue to be used, at least that was what they told...

ViP222K removed from my account after Hopper 3 purchase

I was pretty happy with my ViP222K that I have owned since 2010. After I bought a 55" 4K TV a few months ago, I contacted Dish about a 4K receiver option. They emailed me ads and called me repeatedly, trying to entice me to upgrade to the Hopper 3 and a 4K Joey. Dish sent me a new smart card for...

    Second remote not working

I bought a new Hopper 3 and a new Wireless Joey/Access Point. The 54.0 remote that came with the Hopper 3 would light up but not function or pair up. The 54.0 remote that came with the Wireless Joey/Access Point was able to be paired up to the Hopper 3 just fine. I contacted the dealer that I...
