811 has poor 1080i to 720p scaling I also get the same results... much better picture on 1080i broadcasts by setting my 811 to output 1080i and let my 50" Samsung 720p DLP set do the scaling. It's the 1080i to 720p scaler in the 811... it's simply poor when compaired to doing the same...

If you are using component inputs on the sammy, you can compress it back to normal with the "Aspect" button on the sammy remote... If you are watching via DVI, that button does not work tho...

DVI is preferred on DLP, LCD and Plasma On my Samsung HLN507W DLP, DVI delivers defintely better sharpness on native HD content. You can find lots of 6' DVI cables on e-bay for less than $10.00 shipped. You do not need to spend big $$$ on DVI cables, especially if you don't need one over...

I agree that on my HLN507W Samsung DLP and 811, the PQ is much better on 1080i material when the 811 is set to 1080i and let the set scale it to 720p. The only time 720p looks better in my setup is when the broadcast is in 720p. Also, I get noticably better resolution on native HD...

What version software is it running? When my 811 was on 263, it did that every day... On version 264, it has not happened once.

YEp... I've seen it ... Yes... it happens to me about once a week. I found that switching to a satellite SD channel clears it up. Switching to a satellite HD channel will not clear it up for me.

You can do it, but I agree with the others... The composite inputs on my 811 give really poor results for me...
