No, I know it can work my AV receiver through the IR. But if it's all buried in cabinets you can't get an IR signal to the boxes. I want to use just the RF remote to the HR20. Wondering if you can modulate the volume output of the HR20 through HDMI, or if it is constant. I'm pretty sure...

For the HR20 can you make it so the volume button actually changes the volume output level through HDMI? I will be using the RF remote and my AV receiver doesn't have this feature. It would be nice to be able to use one remote with all the components buried in cabinets.

In February I re-upped for 2 yrs on the HR20 for $99. I just called tonight to replace my old RCA HD box that can't get the new MPEG4 channels with H20, plus I wanted a new HR20 for my media room I'm finishing up. It was kind of complex because they aren't supposed to do two new boxes...

I'd put 3 coax runs (2 for dual tuners, 1 for real OTA) to each room you plan on having nice TV set-ups. Phone isn't really necessary, but you might as well if you are running it.

I would bet considerably. Are you watching OTA or LIL? I watch OTA. Sometimes I can see compression artifacts, sometimes it looks fine. It is the worst of all the major networks.

the only model they have is the HR20-700. if D* doesn't have your HD locals, and you don't have an OTA, I'd go with FIOS. Hell, I'd go with FiOS anyways.

I wouldn't switch to D*. I was already married to them with all the equipment. If I was starting fresh I'd go E*, or probably just cable at least until I see what D* does with HD. The cable here is terrible (like a lot of places) but at least it's easier to wire up and has better HD quality...

2 HR20s free? Damn, that's the best I've seen. I paid $99 for the HR20. Hoping to get another in 6 months for free.

depends. usually the cable is encoded. sometimes it's not.

holy crap. try using some punctuation once in awhile.

I ran a new line for OTA and it didn't help at all. Ended up just moving the antenna a bit to get most of the channels back...still can't get one though. ah well, it's better this way anyways for the future.
