Hi, so I went to a friends house and updated the software on the receiver, so it does not appear to be the receiver that is the problem. However, now I have an Attention 587 message on the screen. Is there any way for me to get back to the dish pointer screen? I tried holding power for 10...

okay that's definitely good to know. I'll give it one more try hopefully I can get something to work out. I found a friend that has Dish so I can update the receiver software at his place and then maybe my dish will start working....

Why would I lie about what they told me? They gave me 3 installers for which I already explained the result.

Hey everyone, thanks, I appreciate all the help. So I found out my receiver is on the factory software and that it "might" make it harder to find the signal. (no idea why this would be the case though ) I've still had no luck finding any signal strength on any sat. I even tried calling Dish...

I guess I'm still not getting it... angle brackets? I've tried everything I can think of. I've got the settings from dishpointer set. I've tried turning the dish from right to left a LOT. I've used my signal meter and it shows 10. But still nothing shows up on the TV screen for signal strength.

whoa you lost me there...also, I'm looking at one of my neighbors and I swear i've got it at least in the same general direction as theirs...shouldn't I at least see something?

Yep, it shows an X on everything. Shows 110, 119 129. "Reception ERROR" Details shows connection good, no signal.

Ok just did that and still 0 signal strength on my tv =\ I covered the two outer ones so the middle should be 119 right? I got that to 10 on the meter and still zero on my tv

Ok I bought a dish signal meter, I followed their directions, did 5, then got 10. Adjusted the knob on the meter so i got 5 again, then fine tuned the dish and got 8.5. I'm still seeing nothign on my tv screen for signal. Any thoughts? Does my receiver need to be activated before it sees...

So when I'm on the initial screen asking for the zip code and dish, what do I put in there, SuperDish? And should I change any of the other values? thanks
