I also have an HR44 and it varies on mine as well. Very annoying. I have just updated from an HR24 and this is one of the few things that bug me.

Definitely try a local installer. I had trouble with the directv installer so I switched to a local installer. I got the same deal and had the install done 4 days later.

Just switched to D* last week and got 2 HR-24's. Is it possible to have the 2 dvr's share their record list? I'd love to just put in what I want to record and have them figure out which dvr to record it. Is this possible or does anyone know if this is a planned feature for the future? Thanks!
