Decision between staying with D* or going FiOS

Thanks for all the great input -- right now I am leaning towards staying with D* b/c of the greater number of HD channels, the better hardware, and simple inertia, I've been with them for 7 years. I'd love to hear from other FiOS fans, though! What are FiOS's HD plans? Do you know anything...

Decision between staying with D* or going FiOS

Thanks for the response Charper -- that is what I currently have, and I think that is what I am going to do -- I'd love to hear the other side, if anyone wants to speak up for switching

Decision between staying with D* or going FiOS

I got a new TV for our living room (which never had one) and called to see how much a new HR-20,21 or whatever was going to cost me. I was given two options: 1. "upgrade" the HR10-250 I still have in my treadmill room to an HR-2x for free and no commitment. I can keep the HDtivo, and keep...

    Both HR-21's froze tonight

I had one tell me my DVR service was not activated. Didn't respond to Menu reset. Had to unplug, which fixed it. A couple of hours later, my other hr-20 wouldn't turn on. Didn't respond to RBR. Had to unplug, which also worked. I am guessing the new SW had something to do with it.

    HR20-700 audio-video sync problems?

I have 2 HR-700s, and it is doing this on one of them, but not the other -- it is driving me bonkers -- seems to only be on some shows. So far it has happened on 'Til Death (FOX) and the Office (NBC), both recorded off the satellite LIL HD feed. Restart (in menu, not RBR) did not fix it for...

    A D* Fanboy getting bummed

I had this problem too (HR20-700) and found that if I rewind a little, so I am not right up against the end of a live recording, the problem goes away -- strange problem, easy fix (so far.....)

My Hr10-250 just received the updated 6.3a software last night :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think HDTivo users (myself included) are going to be left out in the cold on new HD Channels -- they will be MPEG-4 only (most probably). As such, at some point in the future, we will have to decide which is more important -- Tivo's stability and interface...

any news on Significantly Viewed channels?

Yeah, I was very excited for this, and it seems to have died on the vine. Oh well . . .

    HR20-700 question

Per Earl's extensive review found at: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=61862 It does not. However, it appears quite a few of us will miss this option -- take a look at this thread, and send an e-mail to directv! http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=62118 you can find an example of...

    How did I do?

call back and get the HD DVR for free -- it is just a matter of finding the right CSR -- but do it before it is installed -- and tell them about the great deal Comcast/Dish/FIOS/whatever is running in your area. Above all be very nice.

    DirecTivo HR10-250 Blowout!

I have a HR10-250, live in Annapolis, MD (about 40 miles from the DC broadcast towers), have an antenna on the roof, and pick up the 4 major DC locals (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox) without a problem -- also get UPN on and off. Can't get the Baltimore locals (30 miles north, as opposed to DC being 40...

    DirecTivo HR10-250 Blowout!

Wow. DirectTV lives to fight another day in my house! I was DECIDED that I would switch to FIOS once it became available -- they just got their Cable franchise and VZ will start installing in less than 45 days here in AA County, MD. I stumbled across this thread, and then decided to give...

(Rumor) Verizon CableCard and other news):

One thing to consider -- there are rumors that VZ will network the TVs in your house -- possibly as early as this summer -- meaning that you could what taped programs that are on your living room DVR's HD in your bedroom. If that happens, I am making the switch to VZ once it becomes available...

    Directv deals

I share a lot of Jet Jam's frustration -- I have a HD Tivo, a SD Tivo, and a regular sony box (which always crashed, btw.) I bought the HDTivo last January, knowing it would be obsolete soon, and got a lot of service credits as a result (so that's good). I paid for a lifetime sub to Tivo...

My thoughts on the Motorola 6416

I think the "back you up a bit" feature is a Tivo-patented feature -- not sure, but that is my recollection . . . anyone else here know for sure?
