Two new hd channels on directv

I was surprised watching it today. You hear that it's "right wing" or conservative but, at least during the daytime news hours, it's more like what cnn headline news was.

MLB Extra Innings not worth it anymore.

It works all the time, more reliable generally better quality video. I have relatively good speed (~12 Mbps) and I was never able to get the 60fps last year for the "free game of the day" on Mlb.tv. it was really bad a couple of years ago when there was heavy traffic. But if you've got super...

    HS17-100 (For those wondering)

You would have to break your back to find an am21 anyway. The database setup was doomed to fail, let the thing scan, dish rarely has problems with that. Anyway, it says 7 simultaneous recordings and 7 active rvu sessions, a recording isn't an rvu session so if you are recording 7 things could...

    HS17-100 (For those wondering)

Either a tv is used to watch live tv or watch a recording in progress if all the tuners are full. But what I thought the word was it would have 11 tuners with 7 sessions. Meaning if every single tv is on live tv, you can still record 4 things.

    DISH vs DIRECTV

I agree with most of this. Dish receivers are probably better and faster but directv receivers are good enough to do most. And DIRECTV has better picture. As said above dish SD in mpeg4 is better than DIRECTVs mpeg2 SD but HD is much better on DIRECTV. 720p is about the same but 1080i on DIRECTV...

    HS17-100 (For those wondering)

I would wager to guess no. Unless they release new clients (which is possible, but not necessary) the clients out now (c61, c31) would probably be the same ones they use with the new server (keeping in mind the new thing is simply a server, it doesn't output video).

    Superbowl 4k

Could but I imagine it would involve close coordination with every single affiliate to get the right commercials in the right spots and be assured that everyone would get them. Unless they wanted to switch the 4K channel to the regular local channel during local breaks. But then the 4K feed...

    Illinois Tax Slide 2017

Just as I suspected, and not really a surprise. They show up as entirely separate channels. Like there's one on 359-1 next to fox business. Perhaps you have a customized guide so new channels don't automatically pop up?

    Illinois Tax Slide 2017

this channel (see thread title) shows up a few times in the 350s. It says I'm blacked out (I'm near Illinois, but not in Illinois) anybody know what this is or what it says? And does it show up everywhere or just near Illinois? I assume it's something telling you to call your governor or state...

    Is This Normal ...?

5 seconds could just be a round number he used. If the box is changing resolution (or changing channels with different resolutions) different tvs could take longer or shorter time to make the adjustments, so my time may not be the same as yours (if that's the problem here). Also occasionally...

    Superbowl 4k

According to Wikipedia it's XXXIV in 2000 on ABC (720p). NFL uploaded the game on their YouTube page but it was only in SD so who knows if they saved it in HD. Oddly enough, recording the game would be the only reason to use 4K cameras and production. Also that 8k anecdote above may be...

    Possible Info On New Server?

Sounds nice. Wonder if this fella will be getting in trouble with DIRECTV..

    New Customer Problems

I agree. That's just my guess, normally the tv goes dark for a second then comes right back. Could be something different, maybe others will have a different guess.

    New Customer Problems

The second problem seems to happen all the time. Im not sure if someone has come up with a solution but I've grown to ignore it. The first problem may be the box when it switches resolution if it's in "Native" mode (i.e. A 720p channel will be transmitted to tv in 720 and same for 1080i, 480)...

DIRECTV Will Raise Prices Next Month

Couldn't tell you. I'm supposed to be able to see Cardinals, Brewers, Twins, Cubs, White Sox, and Royals according to the blackout map in Iowa but CSN Chicago is the only one I get too.
