Thought I bought my 811, now Dish says NO!

Boba, When Dish started selling the units for $150 about four months ago, they excluded DHP customers, but after a bit of an uproar from customers, they decided to include them as well. That's how I got it for $150 - I got the 6000 the same way a few months prior when they did the same thing.

Thought I bought my 811, now Dish says NO!

Packed away somewhere - we're in the process of moving so everything's mostly boxed up in the garage so I can't get to it.

Thought I bought my 811, now Dish says NO!

About 4 months ago I purchased an 811 receiver from Dish when they did the proce drops. I am an existing customer (was on the DHP plan, but owned a 6000 and I THOUGHT an 811) and had been with Dish for about 5 years, but recently decided to give Voom a whirl. When I purchased the 811, they...

Attention: (Unofficial) There might not be enough equipment for installation?

Big installation delay in Sacramento... I was scheduled for an install today, but Installs Inc. called yesterday and had to reschedule because they said they don't have enough equpiment. The earliest date they gave me was JUNE 21! They must be hurting for equipment if they're pushing...

    Charlie Lied: Read The Latest

Here's what it sounds like to me - Echostar and Viacom had originally been negotiating over a 5% increase and then Viacom demanded 7% (this would be a 40% increase over the 5%) I don't think they're talking about a 40% net increase, but a 40% increase relative to the original negotiations. I'm...

HD Channels on SUPERDISH or DISH500?

I am in West Sac - to answer your question, the HD channels are all on the 110 with the exception of KCBS-HD (the LA HD feed which requires a local affiliate waiver.) KOVR will not grant HD waivers, so you will need to pick up the local stations OTA. The HD broadcast tower for all the...

Can someone else buy an 811 for you if you are on DHP?

I am a DHP customer and got the $149 deal - you have to call 1-866-443-5162 (the Dish Network executive office) and speak to one of the CSR's there. The regular CSR's will most likely not be able to help, so this exec office number is great! Also, I did not have to commit to any programming...

    What makes an 'exclusive' customer

I spoke with one of the reps at the executive office yesterday and asked them specifically what makes a customer 'exclusive' or not. He said it's basically a mathematical formula based on weighted scores for things like how long you've had your account, how much you pay each month, payment...

    My List of 811 Bugs

mule.variant`: I noticed a similar effect on my SD channels over s-video. I had an overall dark picture but color saturation was intense - especially reds (which were blooming like crazy!) I upped the brightness and contrast just a little (I can save different settings for each input on my...

Help new Dish customer with new 811!!!

I am about 25 miles from the HDTV broadcast towers in Sacramento and antennaweb told me a small antenna would also be fine. I tried the Megawave MV-1A indoor set-top antenna with pretty good results (65+ on all the DTV stations with some dropouts) but switched to the Silver Sensor (got it at...

DHP Current Customers Given Hope by Charlie!

That's surprising - although I have heard one other person who called and the exec CSR wanted them to commit to 1yr. programming for the $199 price, so they called back and spoke to someone else who did it right off the bat with no commitment. I would try calling again. If other people are...

DHP Current Customers Given Hope by Charlie!

JDM2000: Call 1-866-443-5162, it's the executive office number. One of the CSR's there will be able to get you the deal. I am DHP and got the 811 and free 2nd dish for the 148 location (it was installed on Monday) for $149. I also got the 6000u w/ 8VSB last month for $149 by calling the same...

DHP Current Customers Given Hope by Charlie!

CPDRETIRED: Way to go! The 811 (or any HD receiver for that matter!) at $149/$199 is a steal - to put it in perspective, MSRP on my home theater remote is $199! The normal CSR's can only do what their screen gives them permission to - which isn't much. Occasionally you'll find a good one...

811 Roll Call: and How's it Functioning

In a word - GREAT! I am able to control it with my IR learning remote (Sony RM-AV3000) and PQ on HD and digital OTA is awesome! I'm not using analog OTA because I get my SD locals over the dish so I can't comment on that. SD PQ is great, but like many other posts, it does seem...
