Will an Installer Hook up a HD-DVR not Bought Through D*?

Probably not, I had a similar situation last Fall. I ordered the install via Best Buy and purchased another HR20 from them at the same time. The sales guy asked the D* CSR he set the install up with if they would install the additional unit and was told yes. D* noted it on the account and I took...

    HR20-700 Overheating

127 seemed to be constant on this one and since this unit is in the family room and used all day, by early evening it was shutting down the last few days. Yesterday afternoon I switched the HR20 to another shelf where the PS3 was as that shelf allowed for 9 inches of clearance above it. Since...

    HR20-700 Overheating

Thanks for the info. The unit in question is running at 127, while the other two are running at 111 and 120. I may look for one of those laptop fans for now, as we've got a lot of recorded shows we'd loose if I had to replace it under the PP.

    HR20-700 Overheating

One of my HR20-700 DVRs that I've had for 10 months now started overheating a few days ago. The unit has been in my entertainment shelf for the entire time and has never done this before now. I can hear the fan working inside (not sure if there is one or two on the HR20 - but I hear something)...

Why does D* charge extra for HD equipment and programming?

I don't have any experience with CableVision, but I do with VZ FiOS and Time Warner Cable - so here is my two cents... IMO, D* is well worth it. Like anybody else, I wish it was less expensive, but I have no problem paying what I do for what I get. I had D* for almost 9 years and was totally...

Anyone ever quit DTV, then come back with a good deal?

In late 2006 I left D* after 8 years for VZ FiOS. 9 months later we moved about 20 miles away to a community that wasn't serviced by VZ. When I called D* and asked them to reactivate my account, they couldn't find it, so I ended up going to Best Buy and getting the NFL Sunday Ticket promotion...

    HGTV / Food HD Question

I agree, but overall, now that it is simulcast, real HD is the minority. If my wife thinks the PQ is bad, they REALLY have issues. I vote for them to put things back the way they were...

Anyone NOT using the RC64 remote for their HR20?

We've got 2 HR20s and use a Harmony 880 on both. They work great. You can pick them up cheap now on Amazon.

    Why such poor guide data?

While the D* guide may have a few issues, it is a blessing compared to VZ FiOS. I left D* SD service for FiOS in Q4 2006 because of the HD offering they had, and just came back to D* last fall after we moved. There was not a day that went by while we had FiOS that my wife and I did not curse the...

    HR20-100 & 700 National Software Release's 0x1EA

It happened one more time with the unit in the bedroom since my original post above and I waited 10 minutes with no luck. This time it was when I was turning the system off along with the TV. Nothing worked, no remote buttons, guide, info, nothing. The good news I guess is the main unit in the...

    HR20-100 & 700 National Software Release's 0x1EA

Nothing out of the ordinary. Watching any given station and when you go to try and use the guide or change the channel, it freezes up. It has also happened while watching recorded programs as well. I was quite surprised myself as I know this release was tested quite thoroughly. We've gone one...

    HR20-100 & 700 National Software Release's 0x1EA

Has anyone experienced your HR20-700 locking up since the new software was installed? I've had to reboot both of my HR20s several times since the software came down on Thursday. Prior to that, I think I only rebooted once since signing up with D* last September...

Not sure what you mean here... Are you referring to the digital transition in 2009?

Costco loads up on BD and HD-DVD players

Costco cuts deals with manufacturers that allow them to carry certain products at below market prices for a short period of time, maybe 6 to 9 months. The manufacturer is the one taking the hit, not the stores. If you look at the BD player model, it is the BDP301, not 300 so most big box...
