I tried the chat approach, and got no offer. But met a really friendly Dish CSR :)

My offer was a Hopper with Sling w/no Joeys (we want to sling to our Desktop PC and get rid of the old TV) for $100 and no commitment. I said no thanks, and was transferred. The second offer was the same set-up for $0 and a 2-year commitment. Was charged $15 for the install. Not bad :)

Thanks for the WNDA3100 tip :up I'll have to try it. I've tried two other Netgear USB products - WNA1100 and the WNA3100 - and neither worked. Although my laptop "saw" and could connects through both devices, both registered a "not recognized USB device" error on my VIP.

I've tried a few USB adapters with zero success. After plugging them into the back USB port, the VIP reports "Unrecognized device" which I assume mean it doesn't have the right drivers. The adapters tested were the Belkin Simple G and both Netgear's WNA1100 and WNA3100. The Netgear adapters...

Has anyone been successful linking wirelessly using USB gaming adapter in their VIP? Reading through the threads, there are lots of success stories linking their VIPs to their wireless networks with bridges. What, if any, USB wireless adapters are connecting their DISH boxes to their WLANs...

We're thinking of coming off the $6 monthly plan as well. It used to be provided the RSAs "free" when coupled with the original TurboHD. But talking w/Dish, there's no longer any ties to programming. So, $72/year for insurance on leased equipment just doesn't make sense for us.

+1 :up If Epix works well enough for you, I suggest checking out the Netflix on-demand catalog. It's pretty robust for 10+ year old movies and is playable whenever your ready.
