Stargazer, No problem. This "upgrade" has certainly been a major letdown.

Stargazer, Not exactly, the 50x's never had the pad feature, the 721 still has it but just up to 29 minutes (which most of us hate). If you want more padding you then use the edit feature just like you do on the 500 series. So the 721 is still better in this respect, but not as good as it was.

Stargazer, You must not own a 50x or else you would know that the pad feature available on the 721, is not available on the 50x line. The only way to pad a timer you create from the guide is to edit it. The only other way to create an extended timer is to manually create it from scratch. But...

You are just fine, as the 721 has a year warranty. Just call dish and they will send a replacement. Sadly, I have a lot of experience with this. I own 5 dvrs, and have replaced more than a few. Good luck!

I agree with the idea of a timer option of tue- sat for late nite recording. Excellent idea.

Yes, I've seen it work on several of my machines, including my 501. I find a screensaver if i leave them on unattended for more than 4 hrs.

I liked Joan of Arcadia, Las Vegas, and 10-8. I have to see more of Lyons Den and the Handler. 10-8 surprised me the most I really enjoyed it and I had so little interest in it that I almost didn't record it. I like most of the the WB shows including the new one, One Tree Hill.

People keep mentioning CC autopay and the timing with paychecks. Why?? You have 30 to 45 (aprox) days to pay your credit card bill after the charge is made. I have had CC autopay for yrs. First on Directv in the nineties and Dish since 2000 and never had one problem.
