True South vs True South *satellite*

Ok, I'll try that this weekend ... latitude is set on the motor, so should I only be adjusting the elevation of the dish, or should I adjust it at the motor itself?

True South vs True South *satellite*

Mikey I liked your detailed instructions for mounting and aiming the dish. Coincidentally, I had already done (more or less) exactly what you described over the weekend. Both ends of the arc are strooong, but a handful throughout the middle have lesser, or even sporadic, signal quality. What...

True South vs True South *satellite*

Awesome replies. This is the stuff that doesn't seem to make it into these cheesy generic manuals that I have been reading and re-reading! RADAR - I coincidentally did the same process you posted yesterday evening. My line of thought was, "if I can at least get it on the arc, then it...

OK vs FAIL during Blind Scan

Awesome, thank you! Also, what is the difference between a "normal" blind scan vs. "detailed" ? I'm using a MicroHD receiver.

OK vs FAIL during Blind Scan

This is too much fun! Motor is set up and working great! When I do a blind scan on a single (or multiple) sats, what does it mean during the scan when it says "FAIL" next to a transponder vs "OK" ?

True South vs True South *satellite*

There are a lot of conflicting statements around the web when it comes to setting up a motorized dish. Should you aim it to -no kidding- true south, or aim it to the closest satellite to true south for your location? For us here, it's the difference between 167 degrees for true south, vs 169...

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Not user error. Motor still won't budge manually with 18v input.

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Well put. I never thought about it that way, but it's true. Just shove it in the mail and hope you never hear from the customer. No news is good news. Sounds a lot like eBay, too. Anyways, he was willing to refund my money, so that's good. The only reason I twisted his arm for a refund...

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Hey Iceberg, on the MicroHD, under switch settings, should I have 22K to on or off? I've been leaving it set to off, but then I wondered if, since I'm using a twin Universal LNBF, should it be set to on? Doesn't the LNBF do switching itself?

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Well, I got this e-mail yesterday, so it looks like he's willing to make an exception. I think I will hook it up to the receiver with a short piece of coax today just to make sure, but 18v at 50' should still be 18v at 3 or 6 feet.....

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Just heard back from HyperMegaSat, and as of right now, they're only willing (barely) to give me a refund in the form of in-store credit, minus return shipping and a 10% restocking fee (hopefully they don't plan on restocking this motor). I guess I should have read their pretty narrow...

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Not at all! It was $19.xx ....close to $20. I guess it's a heavy motor, but so many companies (big and small) across the internet are offering such competitive shipping prices. It just seems abnormal now when you get zapped for $20.

SG2100 Won't Move at All (brand new motor)

Well, I ended up going with a DG380B from Sadoun. Shipping was pretty outrageous, but hopefully it gets here fast! Also hoping HyperMegaSat will be cool about taking back the SG2100, but haven't heard back from them yet this morning.

Sorry, no - it was correct from the start.

Haha yea...I only laugh because after messing with it for a half hour or so, that thought finally occurred to me. It's definitely good!
