    jadeworld on round satellite

the jadeworld channels are on the 119, therefor you need an Oval Dish, or you can get fancy with 2 round dishes and a 4x4 multiswitch. the Worlddirect channels are on the 95, which i hope to never have to point.

When will I be a new customer again?

i had a customer who had primestar... got switched to d* but couldnt get service (years ago) and then i showed up and installed d* and they still had him in the system as a previous customer. they were understanding though and gave him a new cust deal. as far as i can tell, if you havent been...

    HSP and Grounding a sytem

i was under the impression that installers were off the hook for grounding if the building has 5 or more units, thus making it a commercial building with regulations that differ from regular residential installations thats just what ive been told anyway.

    Receiver Question

any sbca registered tech? try anyone... theres no way dtv verifies that when i call in and say im a tech, that they can check whether or not i am... sure they ask for a tech #, but that just goes in notes. and ill be damned if i need some certification to do this work... please... its not rocket...

    Receiver Question

same here with me... ive reused p4 cards day after day on service calls. just tell them you are swapping out a receiver and using your old card. ive never had a csr fuss.... if they wanted every receiver to use a new card, they would ship cards with refurbs... but they dont. just dont give them...

    Where can I buy a D10-200 receiver?

the d10-200 take an incredible amount of time to detect the 72.5 sat, which in my eyes sucks... the d10-300 detects it as part of the initial setup and only takes a couple extra minutes... the d10-100 auto detects the 72.5 fairly quickly i like the 100's category system. the 200's suck balls...

Least Expensive Way to Get NFL:ST (HD) from 9/05 to 1/06

ive been told by a few csr that you can only suspend your account up to 6 months... i could be wrong though... you can also theoretically get out of paying the early termination by sending back all the equipment to dtv (its in the fine print)

    Multi-switch question (I think)

depending on what satallite your locals come in on (101/110) you can get away with a 3x4 multiswitch for your non-HD boxes. this will only work to pass the 101 satellite, nothing else. i have done this. i repeat though, it will only work for the 101... if you need the 110/119 you need direct...

Does 18" round dish work for Jade World Package?

i was under the impression that the jade channels were on the 95 sat. I could be wrong, as here in vermont nobody wants foreign programming so ive never had to set it up. oh... another thought... you need one dish pointed to the 101 to get the program guide... other wise your receiver wont...

    Woes in Alaska

hell, make one... all you need is a parabolic dish shape, metallic enough to reflect a 12ghz signal, and a regular dtv lnb... or drive around and see if you can find anyone with an unused c-band or other such dish, it should work, and if it doesnt... well, your out a couple hours of legwork...

    Which one?

wildblue... upfront cost about 479 or less depending if you can get a free install + 49.95 a month

WildBlue to be OFFICIAL BROADBAND PROVIDER

the techs in my company are going to get trained for wb at the end of the month, so far it looks a whole hell of a lot easier to install than direcway is. another benefit for corporate use is the ability to use VPN. i know we have several jobs already lined up for construction company onsite...

Voom dead, which service now for HD?

directv rebate if you sign up for dtv HD, you can get a $200 rebate if you were a voom subscriber there's a link on the directv homepage a trick for getting the 119 sat is to use multiple 18" round dishes, and run them through a multiswitch. that way, if you can get the signal for one sat...

Another new install phone requirement ???

phone lines are supposedly coming into play when dtv brings online all the interactive programming they have planned (sports betting, some sort of movie on demand service and such like things) but this is coming from the same people (my hsp local office) that try to claim dtv is buying tivo...

    Another switch question (3 inputs)

with the triple sat dish to be able to have more that 4 lines, you need a 4x8 or a 6x8 multiswitch. 4 lines from your dish need to be run to the switch for you to be able to get all the satellites properly. with the 6x8 there may be minor signal loss, but a powered 4x8 will have no noticeable loss.
