    I was planning on signing up for HD absolute in the beginning of august. Not sure if I should sign up now and then downgrade to silver/bronze when they force me to (febuary?) or just wait and start with silver/bronze so there's nothing I am going to miss.

    if you plug in a phone line you can avoid the $5 a month programming access fee, if you do not have a phoneline the HD DVRs can use a broadband connection, I know you said that you don't want DVR but if you can do this going to DVR advantage for $39.99 (includes programming, DVR fee and Locals)...
