Latest Eastern Arc Satellite Issue Update

Update: I unplugged 72.7 from my DP44 switch, let the 211 cycle to another transponder on the "acquiring sat" screen (TP25), and then plugged 72.7 back into the switch. Finally counted past 2 and everything is working again. Great job Dish, not.

Latest Eastern Arc Satellite Issue Update

I had to reboot my 211, and now it wont get past acquiring satellite. It is trying to find 72.7 TP6, which is showing up at 77 TP6, even though I dont have a dish pointed to 77. My other 211 confirms this, however it is working fine since I haven't rebooted it. Can anyone check the TID for 72.7...

    Glasses free 3D HDTV

I saw the glasses-free 3D tvs from a bunch of companies at CES. None are ready for primetime in my opinion. The Toshiba models are probably the furthest along. They have large screens and looked decent. Not sure if its just my eyes or what but the picture would go blurry from time to time. They...

What Would You Like More Info On?

I checked the Microsoft booth for media center tuners and they didn't have any on display (unlike last year). However they pointed to some of the card manufacturer booths. I'll go check out HDHomeRun tomorrow.

    Morega / Directv NOMAD

I stopped by Morega to see if they would speak with us about any of their projects. They don't have a booth setup, however they do have a meeting room. They wouldn't comment on anything upcoming, other than saying "good things are coming". When would they be coming? "Soon". The meeting room did...

    RIM Blackberry / Playback

Stopped by the RIM booth to ask a few questions you guys had in the "what do you want us to cover" thread. There was no new information about the torch. It is GSM only at this point. No timeframe for a CDMA version. I got hands on the Playback. Pretty cool tablet type device. Very thin...

    IOMega Boxee info

IOMega is offering three versions of their boxee video streaming device. The basic model has no internal storage and the usual boxee interface. Price quoted was $229. The two other models have built-in storage. 1TB is $299 and 2TB is $349. The storage is based on IOMega's NAS device, so it will...

    Dish Booth Setup

I had my face about a foot from the screen when I was looking :). I just noticed less dithering on the channel logo on the directv setup. From a normal viewing distance there was really no difference. They didn't bother leaving the same channel up for long. During CES they were showing the "dish...

    Dish Booth Setup

Yes, each receiver sent two HD outputs to the server. So that rack would support 16 HD channels.

    Pocket Radar

lol, that hasn't stopped you before (isnt that right Eva??) :) I agree with Scott though. It looked cool, but I couldn't think of a use personally. Maybe if you played sports and wanted to track your tennis serve, pitching speed, or something?

    Dish Booth Day 1

Now that CES is underway, they are just showing a loop of all the features and speed dish has that directv doesn't. They arent even showing live video, or letting anyone touch the remotes. Its basically an ad on 24/7 loop. The tv above the directv receiver is not showing the live feed from the...

    Dish Booth Setup

That rack of dish receivers and servers was their head end distribution system. Mostly for hotels and apartment complexes. The receivers demod/decrypt the satellite signal, reencrypt and send the video over ethernet to a server that takes the IP data and spits out out a qam modulator. The signal...

    Dish Booth Setup

It looked like a dish branded box. Not sure what was inside, but it was connected via ethernet. The remote looked really barebones.

Sling Media Announces Support for Adobe Flash Platform in Hardware and Software Produ

They had it working on a PS3 in the booth. So it works. Now, will it see the light of day? I hope so since it took up an entire side of their booth. They also had reference chipsets from Broadcomm showing how the flash player will work on integrated System on a Chip devices. So if your new tv...
