An OLED TV is the only thing that will come close to plasma, it might even be better (a matter of opinion) LCD/LED TVs,even the top ones, don't come close IMO. LG has some almost cheap ones.

Haven't had Directv in a long time. I couldn't tell you if the Genie is better or not. I never suggested it. I only mentioned the ancient Directv Tivo. But if you want something new, you should try the Xfinity X1 (this is a joke)

I think I should have said Tivo OS instead of Tivo UI. The main benefit being functionality rather than appearance. Stuff like not skipping recordings or deleting timers at random. Anyway, I'll leave it for others to debate. I usually enjoy forums like this but this one isn't fun for me anymore...

It's a legit question. Almost every thread on here is related to poor software development. Should Dish just throw in the towel and hand it over to someone who knows what they're doing?

No, I'm not. My previous post has been edited for clarity. What I'm saying is when possible locals could be received via OTA instead of paying rebroadcast fees for content you can already receive via OTA. If you can't receive OTA, then of course it would be rebroadcast via satellite when necessary.

End all rebroadcasts? Of course not. But Dish could probably drop locals in favor of OTA in a lot of markets. I suspect most Dish subs are already capable of receiving OTA locals but are needlessly receiving locals via satellite.

Then it probably isn't getting shut down anytime soon.
