    Rockford Files Reboot?

Most of the reboots only pay superficial attention to the original. They tend to ignore the intelligence and charm of the original. They go for cheap action and soap opera melodrama instead.

    Getting into HAM in 2024?

For us, it was Mr Witte at our high school. He convinced the district to approve equipment and space for a station in the school. He also convinced them that study hall could be spent at the station and taught us thoery during that period. He came up with tapes for learning Morse as well. As...

iOS, MacOS, etc. 26 is making me seriously consider switching

I agree, and the mini is probably a good idea. It would make a ton of sense if I was still working and needed serious firepower. But I am in my late 70s and retired. I browse the net, use word and excel, occasionally use a videoconferencing app and do taxes. As long as those still work, I...

iOS, MacOS, etc. 26 is making me seriously consider switching

I guess I don't feel obligated to have the latest and greatest. I updated my Mac in 2015. The OS and Office stopped getting upgrades years ago, but it keeps on doing most everything I need it for. Last year, TurboTax stopped supporting/ working on Monterrey, so I changed tax programs. I...

    Site is slooooow

Not surprised. I was still supporting hp9825 io issues until I left Colorado in 2007. Industrial apps tend to be very long lived. When a control app is working, you don't risk changing things if at all possible. When I was running the business, we took on some contracts to provide board test...

    Site is slooooow

I played with windows 1.0 back in late 1983. Just a toy then. Tiled windows with no overlapping. IMO windows first became kinda useful at 3.2, and really useful at 5.1. Remember old joke: At Microsoft quality is job point one.

The Original Theatrical Cut of ‘Star Wars’ Is Coming Back to Theaters

Fun fact. Theater owners were reluctant to book a Sci fi film with unknown cast, so Fox set up a deal where Star Wars was tied to an expected blockbuster, The Other Side of Midnight. If you showed one, you needed to show the other. Months later Star Wars was packing them in, while Midnight...

The Original Theatrical Cut of ‘Star Wars’ Is Coming Back to Theaters

I remember laughing at this when I saw it on opening night. Told my date about it when we went to see it 3 months later, and it had been cut. Embarrassing. I was really surprised that the film had been edited while still in first release.

And will someone yell to open the blast doors?

Why would Spectrum cut ground wire?

Is your house located near a power substation? I have seen instances where high voltage transformer grounding can cause a significant voltage potential against grounds that were referenced elsewhere. A fundamental lesson in electronics is that ground is relative, and not an absolute.

    Whats for breakfast?

I went all out and made a traditional Brit breakfast of Toad in the Hole. This is breakfast sausages browned and then baked in Yorkshire pudding. Topped with onion gravy. It came out perfect, but it definitely was not a hit with the family. I guess I won't be doing that one again 😟

TV streaming box - best ones?

True that any component can fail, but a quality product has likely had stress testing and failure analysis performed. Possibly even beta testing in user environments. The box we are discussing here was most likely rushed into production as soon as the prototype was operational. Their...

    About our future:

A bit of a surprise. Ronnie has always been the guide to good behavior in the Pitt's many incarnations. I always thought he was the prime moderator. IMO, the pit needs gentle, but constant attention, and frankly you two have other pressing issues.
