    Boston Blue (Blue Bloods Spinoff)

This is my big concern. Too many of these shows get sidetracked with interpersonal drama between the main characters. They become just another soap opera. The original NYPD blue succeeded in keeping this in check,

    Remember When

Built my first system while still in the Air Force. Pioneer receiver, Fisher speakers, Dual 1218 turntable, Teac cassette deck. All available through the PX.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - HBOmax

True, but I have never seen a movie that included all the details of the book. IMO they are entirely different art forms, and producers need to make different decisions on what provides a proper flow and balance. I think the HP films, especially the first couple achieved a nice balance. I...

    Projects

Cost of paper tray vs cost of scanner. My HP laserjet started acting up, and I was looking into cost of a new fuser or new printer. Printer was about 3 years old. I went to ebay and found a NOS in box unit from a liquidator that cost me less than the price of the included toner cartridges...

    YTTV to offer new packages

I have a package with Spectrum where I chose 15 channels from a list of about 40. Locals, public interest and music choice are thrown in as well and don't count against the 15. Haven't seen a streaming package that's a better fit for me, and I still get to use my TIVO. Just call me a luddite.

The Original Theatrical Cut of ‘Star Wars’ Is Coming Back to Theaters

The first laserdisc release was really bad. They time compressed it by about 2 minutes in order to fit it on a single double sided disk, and it showed noticeable artifacts throughout. Yeah, i owned a copy.

    Rockford Files Reboot?

Most of the reboots only pay superficial attention to the original. They tend to ignore the intelligence and charm of the original. They go for cheap action and soap opera melodrama instead.

    Getting into HAM in 2024?

For us, it was Mr Witte at our high school. He convinced the district to approve equipment and space for a station in the school. He also convinced them that study hall could be spent at the station and taught us thoery during that period. He came up with tapes for learning Morse as well. As...

iOS, MacOS, etc. 26 is making me seriously consider switching

I agree, and the mini is probably a good idea. It would make a ton of sense if I was still working and needed serious firepower. But I am in my late 70s and retired. I browse the net, use word and excel, occasionally use a videoconferencing app and do taxes. As long as those still work, I...

iOS, MacOS, etc. 26 is making me seriously consider switching

I guess I don't feel obligated to have the latest and greatest. I updated my Mac in 2015. The OS and Office stopped getting upgrades years ago, but it keeps on doing most everything I need it for. Last year, TurboTax stopped supporting/ working on Monterrey, so I changed tax programs. I...

    Site is slooooow

Not surprised. I was still supporting hp9825 io issues until I left Colorado in 2007. Industrial apps tend to be very long lived. When a control app is working, you don't risk changing things if at all possible. When I was running the business, we took on some contracts to provide board test...

    Site is slooooow

I played with windows 1.0 back in late 1983. Just a toy then. Tiled windows with no overlapping. IMO windows first became kinda useful at 3.2, and really useful at 5.1. Remember old joke: At Microsoft quality is job point one.
