Not sure, it may be just amplifying the noise and artifacts etc... you can have good cables but it's only going to be as good as the source.

sounds like a good deal... but what about your contract w/D*? and of course don't forget about picture quality. I have both TWC and D* so I can get local HD channels (for NBA playoffs) and the analog channels are crappy; even my wife pointed it out.

D* needs to get more HD channels cause at the moment they are the worst choice if you really want HD. In my opinion: 1st choice is voom .. they just got more if it although the quality of those channels is suspect from what I hear. Cons: still need antenna for local HD. 2nd choice is...

I think D* fears that if they put an ethernet connection on receivers it will somehow make them vulnerable to hackers.. which I could understand their concern with all the trouble they had w/signal pirates. But I agree the old land based phone line has to go. Maybe they should come out w/some...

I guess it depends on the program you are watching, your TV, settings... all that stuff. I have a 42 mits TV, maybe I could really tell the difference if I had a 50+ TV..

I hope it gets better too. I also think that 720p for sports is over rated. Hdnet uses 1080i for sports and to me it makes the difference between a great picture and almost being there. Maybe 720p is good for a hockey puck or a 100mph fastball but I think b-ball and football can get by w/1080i...

Ok, just an observation here: I just got hooked up w/TWC Hd service to get Local HD, INHD (NBAHD) and TNT-HD for the upcoming playoffs. Using the Discovery Channel for comparison on my Samsung 360 and TWC's Pace DC-550 HD box it seems TWC HD is a tad bit better than D* as far as picture...
