I agree. As others have said, I wish the cost could go down, and that I could dump ESPN and save some $. I'm happy with directv, I was with dish and the difference between the two is night and day! Thanks Directv!

So was this about fixing the caller id issue, or about getting the HR54? One of the first replies, from the other site, explained that the 54 didn't even have a phone jack, if the issue was the caller id not working, why were you asking about HD size, if it's better, etc? Seems like you wanted...

I don't know if I'd do it. If the feature is going away, you lost everything for nothing. How much do you have recorded, can you replace it with on-demand, those are questions only you can answer.

Let me know if a new receiver fixes your issue. Like you said, it would suck to wipe all my recordings for nothing.

I finally turned caller ID off, it drove me nuts! Here is the issue, you get a phone call, or make a phone call, and the caller ID message comes onto the screen every 15 seconds or so. Once the message appears, you have to hit the select button on the remote to clear it, or you get stuck...
