I find that some of the programmed buttons only send out a short burst of code, not long enough in some cases for the device to recognize. I also find that sometimes I have to push the aux button several times to get the codes to work.

The DMA’s are determined by a company called Nielsen, they are the people who issue the ratings surveys. They are the same regardless of how you receive the signal.

I used to have a Bell TV dish when I lived in NH. Now I live in FL and I’m out of their footprint. I can get some stuff from Canada on streaming but much of it requires a user name and password from a Canadian provider.

My OTA's via antenna are sharper and brighter than the same channels over satellite. If you are experiencing the opposite you may have your resolution set incorrectly.

My dish is a grey dish that says Dish HD on the front. It has a single wire that goes to a separator (silver color, not orange) behind the receiver. The separator's label says "Dish Plus Separator 123254". So this is I presume a Dish Plus dish? It was installed when I moved here in June 2016.

This has nothing to do with retransmission, which applies only to OTA channels. Since HBO is not transmitted in the first place, there's nothing to retransmitt.
