Nooooooooo they did not (at least for DirecTV). I was a DirecTV customer from 1997 until 2002 when I bought my 64" RPTV HD set. DirecTV had no HD offerings at the time. At least not for the general public. A call from the regional manager where I bought my TV to Time Warner got me hooked up...

My understanding is that if you push the red button your encryption keys get reset. So, while your recordings are still on the external media, the keys used to lock them up are no longer valid. In short, your recordings are gone.

Coming up on 15 hours of downtime now for the Charlotte locals (except 42, 55, and 58). A bit annoying and screwing up my recordings.

Yay for bug fixes! Resolution issue is fixed! Now, if they'd just bring back my HD locals that have been out +12 hours now.
