It seems like they could do a user-selectable volume level, sort of like the gain adjustments on some MP3 players. That way, the signal comes to user, untouched by D* and can be set by the customers to acceptable levels.

It happens on the R10 units too. Something with the way locals send their signals to DTV maybe?

I got a 708 for a returned R10. After the software update, there didn't seem to be a difference. I hope that the main difference is that the 708 continues to function. :) have a good one.
