    Verizon FIOS

I've been trying to find information on verizon fios other than what the verizon web sites have on them. Was hoping there would be a verizon fios forum on here even though this is primarily a site dedicated to dish and directv and the like. Any thoughts? -- Dan

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

This is what my options are when I log into my account. I click on "Equipment Information" and then "Dish'n It Up" under the "Equipment Upgrades" section. Option 1: 1 TV Select a Standard Definition, DVR, or High Definition receiver for one room of service (SHIPPED) FREE after...

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

Well, to put it more appropriately, the installation wasn't screwed up, it just wasn't done as I asked them to do it. They said it couldn't be done the way I wanted. That's rediculous, but I didn't care too much at the time. I didn't think I'd have an HD TV this soon, lol. Oh well. -- Dan

Dish Says No For 722 Upgrade/Exchange

Since when do they allow the lease of the 622 or 722 models? All I can see is a purchase price varying from $179 to $229 with HD service along with a $100 rebate spread out over 10 months. I would hope that if I was dropping that kind of dough, that I would own the box outright. BTW, sucks...

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

You are correct. I copied/pasted the info and mixed up those #'s. The $80 would probably be for re-cabling in the walls. I don't think there is a direct lead from the living room downstairs to the bedroom upstairs (directly above). I know it could be done, just don't know how complicated it...

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

The family room on the ground floor has a direct lead out the front wall beside the window and up the front of the house to the roof and dish. The 2nd lead is also direct, but to the 3rd floor and then split to the 2nd floor directly beneath the jack on the 3rd floor. I hope that sounds right...

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

The problem is I don't have HD service or equipment so they will be required to install the new equipment on the roof of my 3 story townhouse. I checked this morning and then again a few minutes ago and there is only a DISH'n It Up offer like before the new promotions. I've had the same thing...

    New Dish HD Upgrade Promotion

Damn. I just called and I'm looking at big bucks in order to upgrade to HD. The lady said I'm looking at the following costs for upgrading: ViP722 DVR (250gb) = $230 - $100 ($10/mo for 10 months) = $130 or ViP622 DVR (500gb) = $180 - $100 ($10/mo for 10 months) = $80 On top of that she said...

    Tech Chat Recap - August 13, 2007

Pardon the improper word. I've done my share of encoding over the years. I however know very little about DVR's besides the obvious, so excuse my ignorance on this subject. Thanks for the reply. -- Dan

    Tech Chat Recap - August 13, 2007

Why? Because those who have DISH or DirecTV and use other branded DVR's such as a Tivo, don't necessarily get the maximum resolution available. The end result is the playback looks worse than the live satellite feed. Obviously there is compression during the recording which further degrades the...

    Tech Chat Recap - August 13, 2007

RE: Technical Chat Recap I'm surprise nobody asked what resolution the DVR is capable of recording at. The Tivo Series 2 (SD) DVR's for example max out at something like 524x480 when using the best quality setting. I'm not sure what the Tivo 3 can do. Anyone know what the quality settings and...

DISH HD / Vip622 HD DVR + Promotions

Well, I'm just hoping the cost of the 622 is less than $180 up front on the 15th. I've been a dish customer for 16 months now. It would make sense that they would allow the spreading out of the cost of hardware. I know for a fact they would make more money and get more customers to upgrade to...

DISH HD / Vip622 HD DVR + Promotions

Well, the first rep said $200 back and the other $100 back. Everything I read online indicates $100 back. However, the dish web site still says $200 back DISH Network -- Dish HD for new customers only. Again, what do they classify as a new customer, lol. I only have this question in my mind...

    VIP722 Pricing

The question is; what do they classify as a "new customer"? I've heard 2 things... New to DISH Network New to DISH HD I'm a current Dish Network customer and want to switch to HD so I can take advantage of my new 46" Sharp Aquos HD LCD. when I called and talked to a rep a week ago, he said I...

DISH HD / Vip622 HD DVR + Promotions

Good morning/afternoon/evening. I'm trying to consider whether to jump at the current promotion of $80/mo (all monthly fees and taxes included) for the Americas Top 200 with DishHD, Vip622 HD DVR Dual Receiver and Local Channels Package. The up front cost of the DVR currently is $180. After...
