Old analog 450i receiver - with 39" dish

Thanks Thanks for the info guys. That is what I suspected...if I had C-Band dish up, this would be more useful. I'll have to see if I bother with it then, for just Ku use. I just wanted to "rescue" it. lol.

Old analog 450i receiver - with 39" dish

Hey all. Found an old GI 450i analog receiver at a 2nd hand-store here in my area. I just picked it up, mostly to play with it at some point. My question is... Eventually, I'm going to setup either a dedicated dish parked on a bird, which sometimes has an analog feed once in awhile, or... I...

    reccomend a good disque switch?

I have one of these in my configuration too, but I can't comment on it yet, as it was just recently introduced into my mix. I have heard they are a good switch too. They have a 4 year warranty it looks like. Another good one would be Spaun - again, German-made.

    reccomend a good disque switch?

I've used BAFF (made in Germany), and they seem like a good Diseq switch. I've also heard good things about the Chieta switches too, but I've never used them myself. Yeah, those cheap Diseq switches are garbage. I had two that went bad... a particular port would just quit working.

I believe the magazine you are referring to is still around, but it may just be a UK publication now? TV & Satellite Week TV Spy | Keeping you up to date with the best US shows I think I have even seen these in the Chapters bookstore here in Canada, but, as with any UK publication, when you...

This "Ads by Google" ad needs to be removed

Hey guys... I caught the ad again generated from the "Ads by Google" advertising. This is the one I saw before, which you probably want to remove, for obvious reasons. :-) (Site Removed) Especially since is shows so prominently.

    N3 is working!

Ahhh... that would probably explain it then.

    N3 is working!

N3 Fix advertisement I just noticed... I was logged into the forums here, and was away from my desk for awhile. When I returned to my desk my session was logged out of Satelliteguys.us, from the time-out. Right at the top of the screen, above the "Satellite guys sponsors" was a red...

97 W, yes..but what else is out there?

NASA TV has a mix of stuff. Check out their website: www.nasa.gov/ntv Sometimes it's satellite imagery, sometimes educational clips, sometimes live feeds. Of course, there is a shuttle mission on right now, so we got to watch the live take-off, with camera angles, etc... and you can watch the...

    RG6 cable

Probably just the amount of RF shielding in the cable, and maybe price. lol. I'm not too familiar with tri-shield cable. Regular RG6 has two layers of shielding, a layer of foil, and a layer of braided shielding. I'm guessing tri-shield just adds an extra layer of shielding (probably foil)...

    RG6 cable

Yeah, that's the most fool-proof method. It's nice seeing that you got what you paid for. :-)

    RG6 cable

Your performance with your RG6U cable probably had more to do with the cable quality/use itself, and nothing to do with the U letter designation. The U does not stand for UnShielded. It has differing meanings... Sometimes it's meant to stand for Universal, sometimes people refer to it as...
