If you are using a single sat 18" dish with a dual lnb, you cannot split the signal between the lnb and the receiver(s). You MUST run a dedicated cable from the receiver(s) to an open port on the LNB.

If you have 2 standard boxes, then the lines should go directly to the dish with no multiswitch being required. So that takes that out of the equation. If the installer used the existing cabling and you had cable tv before, it is possible that there's a splitter in the line between the...
