That is handy. The HD8240 uses the mute button to toggle the tone while in setup mode. It remains selectable as long as you are in that mode, then defaults to off when you exit the sat configure page.

The short answer is avoid unsupported equipment....for example, you might find a "deal" on a receiver on Fleabay but if it's buggy or poorly designed, you likely wont get any satisfaction if you need FW upgrades or repairs. As has been posted, before going any further what DO you want...
