    Considering Dish Network

Looks like cable does have locals, but no FOX. It's just awfully pricey... and no IFC. Still an option though.

    Considering Dish Network

The downside of cable is less SD channels for about $20 more. Important ones like IFC. Plus I haven't researched OTA HD with cable, does it work the same way? On the subject of SD picture quality-most of that would be watched on a 32". The 65" would be the HD. I don't want 'crap', but I'm...

    Considering Dish Network

Thanks for the input fellas! Although, I don't feel any better about making a choice then I did when I started. All the nay-saying kept me from Voom, now I'm afraid of Dish... If I post a similar question in the Direct forum will I get similar comments? By the 'you get what you pay for'...

    Considering Dish Network

My main reason for looking at Dish is the price. The DirectTV website shows a couple hundred for HD boxes. Dish would be free.

    Considering Dish Network

I should have explained better. I meant OTA HD locals. I can get those with the 811 can't I?

    Considering Dish Network

I'm considering signing up for Dish Network after 5 months of rabbit ears on top of the TV. We've had Dish Network in the past before we moved and I had no problems. I was considering Voom, but it was missing some channels the wife wanted and now I've missed out on the free install deal. I've...

    Are local channels in HDTV?

So, if I get the Dish HD package it would be an HD 'receiver' for locals? I'd just need to supply an antenna and an HD ready TV?

Anybody in the Louisville, KY - Southern IN area?

My cable comes in through the basement, but it's old wiring. I'd need upgraded cable for Voom (at least that's my understanding) and they'd have to fish that.

I still haven't done anything :( No Voom, Dish, cable, nothing!

    Lease to own

I'm in a similar situation, but with only two TV's. Having another service just doesn't set well with me finacially. I'm going to have to pick one and accept whatever I have to sacrifice. I wan't Voom's HD, but not sure if I'm ready to give up what the other providers offer.

    Quad shield RG-56?

The installer did say it was overkill to use quad shield. I was just hoping to use it so I wouldn't have to pay the Vomm installer to fish the cable.

    Quad shield RG-56?

Well, he did mispronounce 'membrane' when I asked what the difference was between the cable I have and the newer stuff.

    Quad shield RG-56?

The cable guy came out the other day to hook up a cable modem and said I had old "quad-shield RG-56" cable running that isn't used much anymore. I was hoping to use the existing cable runs for Voom. Will this cable work or will I need new runs?

Anybody in the Louisville, KY - Southern IN area?

I'm still considering Voom. Anybody in the Louisville, KY - Southern IN area have any input on installs, OTA reception, etc?
