To play devils advocate, DTV probably wasn't betting on Sea Launch blowing up a rocket earlier this year. But on the other hand that was long enough ago they should have been able to adjust supplies of appropriate boxes depending on the sub's needs.

I got a brief glimpse at the 62" 1080p at Sears while on my lunch break today. Looked pretty nice. It's definitely worth considering. I don't remember for sure but I believe the price they listed was $3900. Sound and Vision mag. has a review of the 52" in this month's issue.
