    Joey won't link

I agree, good tip...this is what CSR asked me to check for when Joeys did not link.

Need Help with Program Guide Length on Hopper

doogie2566- I a DNS tech and you probably should call DISH CSR since it is a H/J system, but we usually do a check switch test, under (menu), (installation),(point dish). This will normally force the guide download to happen.

Sorry, but I can only see H/J failure in the future...

Hopefully by the end of summer things will improve, but so so far, 1 sale in a week for me is no surprise.

Hopper Caller ID Requirments, Problems or Issues

Well, I am an installer, and our trainer said phone line was not supported on hopper/joey. I said "it has a phone line connection", he said "it is not enabled"...I guess that is why I have to come here to learn anything:confused:

    Joey won't link

Tampa8, not sure what the ?? was for. I am just giving info on what a CSR tech told me, "you can turn off the joey and hopper for 1 hour and it may start download. Your other option is to replace the Joey". I replaced the joey.

    Joey won't link

I have done a H/J install, and could not link a joey. The CSR also told me if the above method does not work, you can turn the hopper and Joey off for about an hour and they will automatically update and start download. I decided that we would just replace the Joey at that point. It might be...

Install Problems on my new hopper :-(

I am an installer (1st time h/j) and had the same "smart card not authorized for this receiver" screen 4 times. After about 5 hours at this install, we were able to complete the job. A couple things I noted for future techs: - CSR said that doing the reset to factory defaults was correct, but...

    PTAT question

That is my understanding (btw understanding, I don't have one yet).....during primetime, tuner 1 is recording everything from the big 4 every night (7-11pm). This can be great or a problem depending on your circumstance. If you come home and turn on nightly news at 6, you are using the second...

    Very disappinted in Dish today

I only know what I was told by FSM. "They want to integrate VIP receivers where needed". Either way, does not explain why you would be required to send back a rcvr before being upgraded. All the tech has to do is deactivate the VIP's like normal. Go Cubs.

    Very disappinted in Dish today

I was told in training today, you would be allowed tp VIP and Hoppers. It's on one of their training slides. It just requires a 44 switch and connectivity to the VIP must be done before the node.

    Very disappinted in Dish today

As a 2nd year installer, I am confused that you have to return a receiver before being upgraded. This does not make sense to me. This is the 1st time I have heard of this. As a 10 year user, it is always better to show patience and wait for the bugs to be worked out It is easier on yourself and...

    PTAT question

I am an installer, and your questions are a little complicated and depends on your needs. I hope I can help, and anyone else can chime in.. if you enable PTAT, it record everything on CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX from basically 7-10pm. These recordings do not use up your useable disk space and only use 1...

Sorry, but I can only see H/J failure in the future...

Just wanted to add, I wish Dish and the Hopper all the best...I just don't see it being the big deal being made here. Most of my customers are happy recording a couple programs and watching "dancing with the stars" in HD.

Sorry, but I can only see H/J failure in the future...

I am not trying to be negative, but LER , "OTA is coming this summer" is the same as we do not know yet, but we are working on it. sparc, I am sure it has to do with my location in the middle of the midwest, but people don't have 3 or 4 HD TV's. Usually it is 2 HD's and 1 or 2 "old TVS".

Sorry, but I can only see H/J failure in the future...

As a installer, I see the receivers are in our shop now, but the training and customer education has been more than lacking, to say the least. Reminds me of the 922 roll-out, that came and went with the same 6 receivers on my van to this day. I have not had one customer say, "can't wait for that...
