    Slow Guide on 722K

I've encountered that on my 722. Mrpink's post jibed something in memory. This slow guide problem started whenStandard Time returned. It had worked well up until then. None of the fixes mentioned earlier in this thread work for me, even temporarily. Anyone have an idea when dish might have a fix?

    Dr Who Favorite Companion

Same here. I take it she (Mary Tamm) was not so popular with the producers. Pity as I enjoyed the good-natured sparring - the Doctor certainly had a match. For the same reason, I think Jenny would be great to return as a companion (a bit reminiscent of the first Doctor traveling with his...

Dr Who Theme songs over the years

cool link! Its interesting how each doctor has subtile changes to the theme, with the occasional big change (Colin Baker for example). I like the current version best, at least so far.

Torchwood - Children of Earth Miniseries

Not so much for me. I think the occasional tie-in to "The Doctor" is the only thing that has kept it afloat thus far.

    Dr Who Favorite Companion

The first Romana or the 2nd? Romana (I can't spell her actual name) was also a favorite - the 1st one that is. Another favorite - Leela.

    Dr Who Favorite Companion

Rose Tyler seems to be on top of everyone's list, which makes it a pity the producers are so set against bringing her back. My favorite is Sarah Jane, Peri, Rose, and (had she actually become his companion) the doctor's daughter (in fact I liked her character the best).

    Favorite Doctor

Same here. He was the first I saw. But having later seen all the others (albeit, limits versions of Hartnell and Troughton due to the extreme age of the video, most of which was unavailable (some still is I think), I still rank Tom Baker as my favorite. I have to admit however, that Tennant has...

    Need advice on computer purchase.

just echoing the advice here - build your own and get xP or buy a prebuilt w/ Vista (trash that it is), and then pick up a copy of xp or even 2000Pro. Given your application, that might make sense - check out eBay for some deals. I don't think you would run into any connectivity issues with...

how will you protect yourself from some thing this

Putting 22 gal in a 20 gal tank is not anything new nor anything sinister necessarily. But keeping the "scales" in order has been an issue for quite some time - its not anything new. Its just worse when the gas price is as high as it is. What can you do? A lot of pumps have a meter showing...

    moving

Hard to say for sure. When I moved a few years ago, they forgot to switch my locals (they knew my new billing address - they just messed up). To my surprise, my old local stations were still. But I had them switch the locals to my new city - being 2 time zones away, the timing did not always fit...

Windows 7 Will Take Less Memory More Efficient

Totally concur. I haven't seen anything but bloatware. Every advance in memory or speed seems to have been countered by a slower more memory hogging software. We can hope, but I would be surprised. At least the OS has gotten somewhat more stable since XP.

Dish 721 error smart card not authorized...

Same here. Its a bit overpriced IMO, but since I also have an old 7200, I want to hang on to it in case it gives up the ghost. Funny, I had replaced by 721 3 times with this last incident, I've only had to replace my 7200 once and that was several years ago. Of course its as slow as molasses, so...

    Dish 522 PiP super-minimize

S/W should be up to date. I successfully swapped between two channels that were buffered for over an hour on one, about 20 minutes on the other. But I pulled it up on PiP, then closed it and pulled it up again and only could back it up by less than a minute. Seems like that would have to be...

    Dish 522 PiP super-minimize

Thanks. That does seem to work. Doing some additional experimentation, I found you do have to be careful if you engage PiP mode while having something buffered you want to back up to - closing out of PiP mode resets the insert tuner buffer. But swapping works just fine. I still like the...

    Dish 522 PiP super-minimize

If this is coverend in an archived thread, apologies. I could not locate it. On the 522, is there a way to have PiP go to an icon instead of a window taking up space on the screen (in effect, buffering the 2nd tuner while maintaining everything on the current tuner).? On the 721, you could...
