    This also happens to cable operators, so you'll experience it twice a year regardless. :)

    The TI you're seeing is better known as "sun spots" Twice a year the sun comes in direct line with the receive dish and overpowers the LNB's. The dish can't transmit or receive from the orbiting bird and therefor you see snow, tiling and fading pictures. Thanks.
