Thanks. I never did like the idea of paying for warranties anyway. As far as the commitment goes, I added a new HR24 a couple of weeks ago so my (new) commitment has just started anyway. And as big a pain as D* can be...they still beat going back to cable!

Hey all, My old HR20-700 is making an intermittent grinding noise. I'm thinking that the only moving part on this beastie is the HDD, so that is the likely culprit. It is also getting much hotter than I remember previously. Does anyone have any experience with D*'s 'Equipment Protection Plan'...

I'd make the installer come back out and do it. The best way is to put a grounding block between your dish and your splitter, then attach that to a grounding rod pounded into the ground. But the installer should have at least connected it to your house ground somewhere.

With a SWM system, it can be grounded at a multi-switch instead of at the dish. So you might check that. But the system should definitely be grounded in case of lightning strikes.

Nope. All I have is the coax. And everything is hooked up through a SWM16.

I'm having trouble getting my HR24 connecting to the internet through the coax. I have the DECA Broadband adapter hooked up and all my other receivers (H21, HR20, & HR21) can access the internet just fine through the DECA Network adapters. But these are not supposed to be required with the HR24...
