So I know rain fade is a fact of life with any sat provider, but it did not get me any points with the wife to have it occur the day after installing. We had moderate storms, nothing super heavy. Is there anything I can do to lesson this? Any numbers I can check to see if my signal is good?

Brand new Dish user, I had DTV about 8 years ago and I remember my sat's being in the 90's for signal strength. As i look on the dish point screen on my hopper i am seeing a lot of 50's 70's , and not much higher then that. What is a 'good' signal ? Am i likely to have more rain/snow issues...

You will get dish on demand via the coax to the hopper, you will not have DLNA/block buster at home without ethernet/wireless/hic connected to each joey. For many people just having on demand on the joey's is all they want and this works without a direct connection.

The Hopper is connected via hard wire, it shows an IP, i can ping it from my pc, it shows a green checkmark for server/internet. However even from the hopper dish on demand and blockbuster buttons aren't doing anything. I looked at the other thread, didn't really help me as mine is connected...

DirecTivo's handle the issue very easily. A Season pass is PER CHANNEL. Hence if you setup a season pass for simpons on FoxW , it will never ever record Simpons on FoxE (if you happen to have both). Very smart system .. its amazing that Tivo hasnt fundamentally changed one bit in 4 years...
