It is not the new-ness that is the issue I am speaking of. The whole system is antiquated.

I too get that message on my brand new 4K UHDTV. Directv's hardware really needs a refresh in so many ways. This is just one more indication of that.

If you do this, you may want to consider running 3 sets of piping. One for left speakers, One down the center of the ceiling, and one for right speakers. And don't forget about the back wall. The other thing is... you may want to run PVC piping from the utility room, if that is where Directv...

Just a side note: Do yourself a favor and run some PVC pipe to your important points, for example in your home theater from your receiver area up to different locations in your room's ceiling. so you can access and run wires quickly. It's relatively cheap to do & allows your system to expand...

It sounds to me like a resolution issue. Are the gaming device, your TV, and your Denon all set to the same resolution? I ask this, because the Denon seems to be trying to sort out what it is receiving and what Resolution it should be kicking out to your tv.

I was wondering what you had done and was going to do long term, since you no longer use your PC HD DVR. The sling option or even the new soon to be Directv option look very good. In time, I may be heading that direction as well.

Ah, yes. I remember the Angst of those long gone days, when TiVo and Directv made it clear that they were not going to play well together at all in the Software Arena. Whew

Do yourself a favor, go with Directv's HD DVR and equipment. The Directv Tivo works, but... my goodness, it short changes and limits the customer in so many ways. IMO it really isn't worth it. The Tivo is ok, yet, if you make the full transition to Directv you will enjoy all of the benefits...
