You won't regret your purchase. I was a Dish sub for a number of years until FiOS came along and just like you, became frustrated with their box. I made the switch to TiVo and haven't regretted a minute. Enjoy!

As good as Oppo players have been in the past, I'd sit on the sidelines until all the bugs are worked out also. Their customer service is known to be excellent, but I don't want to buy a player because they have excellent customer service....I'd rather have an excellent product and never have to...

I don't think anyone can really answer that. But if they do come out with a universal player that does what they say it'll do at that price point, they're going to have a huge success on their hands. My 20/5 is remarkable......FIOS TV is about as perfect as you can get (as long as you have a Tivo instead of one of Vz's toy DVRs).

I fired up my 35 this afternoon and noticed there's a new firmware update. We're now at 1.6. I'll have to see what it is, but I've already downloaded it anyway.

And don't forget about the 2 free movies. Certainly not a deal-maker but still better than nothing. I ordered mine from Amazon yesterday and will have it on Monday. I can't wait to put my Sammy 1400 on e-bay. I've got a Tivo that will download Netflix in December, so I'm good to go.

VOOM was removed from *E for a very good reason; the same old, tired programs were played over and over ad nauseum. It became a waste of bandwidth and *E made a very good business decision. Let's hope VZ learns from *E's mistake.

Your installer may not have known of the channel change, but I can't understand why he/she wouldn't. If you're in the NTX or FL area, the change happened on the 6th and 7th and may take a couple of days to clear up.
