The last spot beam on D9S using TPN 18 was shut down, and the SD duplicates for Chicago on TPN 18 were moved to a National trasnponder on D16 TPN 18. The only active spot beams on D9S today are on TPNs 12 and 20.

This morning DIRECTV removed the slate displays that replaced the SD duplicate locals for Baltimore, Birmingham, Houston, Seattle, and Washington.

i encountered that last week. I tried to schedule a recording from my loacal station,wen I was outside my home DMA. I wanted to watch it when I got home. Didn't work.

Thursday morning. The spot beam on D9S TPN 28 was shut down overnight Wednesday and TPN 28 on D16 was activated.

DIRECTV did an overnight transfer of the Atlanta SD duplicates from a spot beam on D9S tpn 26 to a National beam on D16 tpn 26. So far they have shut down the spot beam transponders on D9S TPN 4 and TPN 26. TPN 18 has only one spot beam active (Chicago), and TPN 28 only has Los Angeles locals.

Agreed. They can't use the Ka transponders at 101, they are too close to 99 and 103. But D16 was designed to function at any of the DirecTV licensed locations. I've never seen anything about the total number of transponders it can power simultaneously (that I recall).

The HR24 software develpment has been frozen for years.

I prefer to deal from facts, not speculation. But while we are speculating, I had a less sinister thought in mind. D9S is only licensed until July 31 2024, when it is sceduled to go to disposal orbit. D16 is going to pick up those spotbeam frequencies as national transponders, we think. They...

That is what DIRECTV requested, but the request was "granted in part and denied in part". I can find no record of that grant in the FCC database. According to the FCC database the current authorization for D5 expires 02/28/2027.

The two systems that I use for capturing the APG data and feeding REDH use Legacy SL5 LNBs (no SWM and no Reverse Band). So I can monitor 110 for signals, if they are DSS (SD) signals. The modified DVBS2 modulation and encoding used for DirecTV's Mpeg4 transmission can't be received by those...

The current LNBs that receive 119 also recelve 110. They are not installed in most residential accounts, unless they needed the 119 SD locals. This may be for some niche subset of customers.

I'm not sure where this is headed. DIRECTV has filed for, and been granted permission to reorient D5@110 to its original orientation, covering the lower 48 and Alaska. It had been reorinted to cover Puerto Rico, and lately left in an elliptical orbit requiring little fuel for station keeping...

I just filled up at $3.04 here at the Speedway near me in New Bern NC. The Mobil across the street was the same price. The usually cheaper stations at Walmart, BP and GoGas are all at $3.09.
