What's wrong with your DVD player?

I haven't heard this addressed at all, but has D* mentioned how much they're going to comrpress these HD locals? Because the more I think about it, the more I think I'm better off getting my locals OTA instead of having them stomped of and compressed like they are with E* right now.

I disagree. I've never seen HD DVD, but I've seen true HD and I've got to say that on MY tv, DVD's are comparable to HD. Not as good, but pretty darn good, nonetheless. Now, I'm sure if I had a 65 inch TV, I might notice the difference more. But I really don't believe there's going to be...

Same here. But everytime I feel disapointed about something like this, I try to remid myself that I never would have been able to justify the startup costs of D* to my wife, and if it wasn't for E*, I'd still be with the cable company. So that's fine. But I gotta tell you, even the cable...

Well the one that KILLS me is when people want to say "would have" or "should have", but instead, they say would of. For example: I would of switched to D* long ago, but I was waiting for my 1 year committment with E* to end.

I'd suggest you double check your instruction manual again. My TV's manual is very specific about which inputs you use for audio when using DVI/HDMI for video. In the case of my TV, it is shared with one of the Component inputs.

Well we've all got to remember that promotions like this are intended to attract new customers. If they just gave the promotion to all their existing customers, they'd be losing a lot of money and gaining nothing.

Well I'm not sure if there is a 12 month committment. When I signed on I was told there was no committment, but I've been told by others on this board that I most likely DO have a 12 month comittment. So I can't help you there.

The HD Pak is $10 per month. 6 free monthe = $60. I wouldn't let a $60 promotion influence your decision to make a major purchase like an HD TV.

I'm with Dish because I'm cheap. As such, I've got no interest in premiums. I'd like to see more HD stuff thats included in the HD pack. Give us Universal HD please! And continue to deliver mainstream material as it is released in HD, such as that Lifestyles network they're talking about...

Makes sense. Just like delievering SD locals to middle America was a priority, so should delivering HD locals. You and I both know I can get my HD locals OTA with an antenna. But do you think my wife wants to get up and turn the rotor when Survivor ends and Apprentice begins? Nope.
