Why is Dish asking to down-convert the LIL HD?

    That's pretty much my point.

Why is Dish asking to down-convert the LIL HD?

What's wrong with your DVD player?

Dish response to Directv's plan to deliver local HD channels in 12 cities in 2005?

I haven't heard this addressed at all, but has D* mentioned how much they're going to comrpress these HD locals? Because the more I think about it, the more I think I'm better off getting my locals OTA instead of having them stomped of and compressed like they are with E* right now.

Why is Dish asking to down-convert the LIL HD?

I disagree. I've never seen HD DVD, but I've seen true HD and I've got to say that on MY tv, DVD's are comparable to HD. Not as good, but pretty darn good, nonetheless. Now, I'm sure if I had a 65 inch TV, I might notice the difference more. But I really don't believe there's going to be...

RUMOR - FOX HD on Dish for SuperBowl? No Way.

Same here. But everytime I feel disapointed about something like this, I try to remid myself that I never would have been able to justify the startup costs of D* to my wife, and if it wasn't for E*, I'd still be with the cable company. So that's fine. But I gotta tell you, even the cable...

    Hey Dishnetwork, heres a clue!!!!

Well the one that KILLS me is when people want to say "would have" or "should have", but instead, they say would of. For example: I would of switched to D* long ago, but I was waiting for my 1 year committment with E* to end.

    HDMI to DVI

I'd suggest you double check your instruction manual again. My TV's manual is very specific about which inputs you use for audio when using DVI/HDMI for video. In the case of my TV, it is shared with one of the Component inputs.

Live Retailer Chat Recap - January 26, 2005

Well we've all got to remember that promotions like this are intended to attract new customers. If they just gave the promotion to all their existing customers, they'd be losing a lot of money and gaining nothing.

RUMOR - FOX HD on Dish for SuperBowl? No Way.

Well don't get too upset about the whole O&O thing guys because its been over a week now and nobody's heard any confirmation of this rumor. And with the Superbowl only 10 days away, I'm pretty confident that is just a rumor. My take on it is that if Dish was going to make this happen, they'd...

    Dish HD vs Voom HD

Maybe so, but the king is dead. Still, I hope E* will purchase some of their programming - I'll take any HD I can get . . . cheaply.

Live Retailer Chat Recap - January 26, 2005

Well I'm not sure if there is a 12 month committment. When I signed on I was told there was no committment, but I've been told by others on this board that I most likely DO have a 12 month comittment. So I can't help you there.

Live Retailer Chat Recap - January 26, 2005

The HD Pak is $10 per month. 6 free monthe = $60. I wouldn't let a $60 promotion influence your decision to make a major purchase like an HD TV.

SatGuys Exclusive: Dish Network answers some VOOM questions

It's not 'people' who hate two dishes, its wives. And after convinceing your wife the the Dish isn't that much of an eyesore and it is a better option than cable, nobody wants to go back to their wife and say, "Honey, we've got to install a second dish", because she'll say, why do we need 2 big...

    New Dish Channel Wish List

I'm with Dish because I'm cheap. As such, I've got no interest in premiums. I'd like to see more HD stuff thats included in the HD pack. Give us Universal HD please! And continue to deliver mainstream material as it is released in HD, such as that Lifestyles network they're talking about...

SatGuys Exclusive: Dish Network answers some VOOM questions

Makes sense. Just like delievering SD locals to middle America was a priority, so should delivering HD locals. You and I both know I can get my HD locals OTA with an antenna. But do you think my wife wants to get up and turn the rotor when Survivor ends and Apprentice begins? Nope.

i think dish finally made a smart move

I like your thinking to a certin extent, but there aren't 24 HD channels worth wasting bandwidth on. If you could give me the locals that would be great, but that's a whole other ball of wax. I agree with Charlie when I hear there is ver little compelling HD content available to be added...

Who you going with ???? Huh,Huh LMAO

Grass is always greener, right? As far as I can tell, you've either got to go with the cheapest option, to save money, or the most expense option, to get the best money can buy. Any other position is indefensible and will invaribly result in flip-flopping.

RUMOR - FOX HD on Dish for SuperBowl? No Way.

Well this would be great for me. Even though I'm in an OTA area, I haven't been able to pull down fox with an indoors antenna and with all the snow and ice around here, I don't beleive I'll be climbing up on my roof to install an antenna anytime soon. So this would really kick butt if it were...

    Disg getting Installed Thursday!

I have one single dish which gives me all my locals, but the picture quality is lousy. I'm using an antenna to get my HD locals. Dish made it clear that they do not install antennas. Which was kind of annoying because they do tell you you can get HD locals. What they don't tell you is you...

    Significant Dish Criticism Seems Unfounded

I don't know, I can't help but think that at least half of our desire to have more HD content is just because we've all spent so much on HD Tv's and 5.1 Surround systems. I do find myself watching show on HD that I never watched on SD. Is that because the quality is so much better, or am I...

    Significant Dish Criticism Seems Unfounded

These are good points Sapient. Dish will make much more money focusing on delivering lower prices with locals than they will make delivering HD. I am one of only two people I know of that have HD. Really. The media makes it sound like its everywhere and to read these boards, you'd think...

Will E* Add Fox HD Distant Nets?

It almost seems un-american that I might not get to see the Superbowl in HD. I'm just waiting for the snow to melt so I can climb up on the roof and put up an antenna to pull in the local HD fox feed. You'd think there'd be a way for E* to make it happen. I think I'd commit to an...

What Does MPEG-4 Mean for the Dish 811?

I assume your tongue is planted firmly in your cheek here. I know all about that. My TV has a built in tuner, so the OTA tuner in the 811 is of little use to me. But obviously they didn't explain it that way when I signed up.

    Horse Racing?

I just read the thread about the latest Charlie Chat and I'm intrigued by the interactive horse racing thing. I live in Massachusetts, so apparently this is a service I'll receive. Anybody seen or heard any more details on this? I've never tried the Bingo thing, so I have no idea how it...

What Does MPEG-4 Mean for the Dish 811?

I'll have to double check my contract. When I signed up, they told me repeatedly that there was no committment. Of course they also told me I could recieve my local channels in HD, so if they lied about that, who knows what else they lied about. I was aware these 'lies' when I got the...
