Nope, it is not the same; I'm currently using stock firmware (don't recall where I download it from). The version you are using is 3rd party, created by a well known pirate group
I have the same model (and the manual) and I regret to tell you that the manual doesn't answer any of your question it doesn't even talk about PVR functionality.
About the channel numbers I wonder if we could use a channel editor to change them

I would be hesitant about doing a substantial investment on 4DTV at this moment. Motorola just recently announced they would end support for 4DTV receivers by December 31st, 2010. Nobody knows for sure what will happen after that date.
Azteca 7,13 still MIA. I see in Lyngsat that they are available in C band @121W. Are those still up? I have a 90cm dish, if I buy a C-band LNB would it be possible to catch them? or is it too small? I'm in the Chicago area.
