DirectTV Amazing deal as a new customer

something to keep in mind: i dont have dtv. i cancelled after two days... however cox cable here in vegas charges somewhere around $15 for HDDVR service... You get the box leased, IPG, all that... But you actually end up paying more in the long run. How much more? Depends on the length of...

    D* HD Quality

sure... any decent store that carries HDTV and dtv But beware that you are watching one tv hooked up to one directv box, not a signal split to 30 tv's because that will make a difference. I went to dtv for 2 days and stuck with cable. that was my preference... that was based on my own eyes and...

Cox Las Vegas adds new HD

Did you notice how A&E is simply upconverted from SD? That really bugs me. And to make matters worse, they feel they need to stretch the picture to make it look 16:9, when obviously it is just a regular show filmed in 4:3 TBS does this too. You probably noticed that Cox vegas got TBS yesterday...

moeg4 vs mpeg2 for non hd channels looks washed out...

so i think i got it. seems to me that when they switched on the new hd channels, and they are not actually doing an hd program, they look like how mu cable co looks in standard def. this must mean that the mpeg4 stream is providing more solution and color, etc in the mpeg4 stream. so that...

    New Channels

stars hd looks good to me. unfortunately none of the other channels for me this am were in hd... sure the guide SAYS A&E HD, but the network is obviously in a better looking sd resolution. not hd. still 4:3 ratio. same with all other networks which are not considered premium channels.

    New Customer Free HDDVR

actually there is no way around it. what happened to me is that the sales person from directv told me lie after lie about it... and then when i found out that there was no truth to it, i was told more lies i was told: new customers who cant get the hddvr for financial reasons can get a...

    EPG Screenshots

all i can tell you is that here in vegas it is pretty bland. it is functional, but lacks the nice glossy look of tivo, and alot of the features of other guides.

Why does my new DTV service look so washed out? So terrible?

Again... when i go from the fixed to native, it takes about 10-20 seconds to switch between channels... also, my tv stretches things all wacky. the installer for directv was useless imo. he had no clue about PQ or anything of that sort. directv csr supervisor told me the PQ should be as good...

Why does my new DTV service look so washed out? So terrible?

Why does my new DTV service look so washed out? So terrible?

but it isnt just the locals... i can understand the locals having a closer link to the local CATV provider. This is national cable networks like USA/FX/CNN/Fox News looking washed out and ugly. That is what i cannot understand. These are all digital, and should IMO look really quite good.

Why does my new DTV service look so washed out? So terrible?

Just had DTV installed by Ironwood this afternoon. I have a 60 inch sony 1080p set, and have cox cable with an HDMI input before DTV install... Now they installed a standard HDTV reciever, and a 5 LFB (is that the right term?) satellite as well as a SECOND international dish. But 2 things are...

    What we are hearing...

extra fees to me are 100% unacceptable. especially when cable companies are bragging about HD being free with the lease of equipment. part of DTV getting me as a customer was that there was a package that didnt require an additional $10 fee for HD programming. I remember in canada there is...
