Does the FCC really require Directv to get cellphone numbers from customers calling for service?

This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but I don't want to have to lie to conduct business with anyone, especially a company I'm paying this much money to. And I don't want to be lied to. I never was before during the 15 years we've had the service. I'm not getting lied to by most other...

Does the FCC really require Directv to get cellphone numbers from customers calling for service?

No, I was calling to get tech support. They already have my landline number and have since 2002. As I wrote in my other thread between all the people I talked to in the Philippines I was told AT&T needed it to verify my account, they needed it to send me information about the 771 outage I was...

Does the FCC really require Directv to get cellphone numbers from customers calling for service?

I know I'm getting OCD on this but I was told 4 different reasons why they wanted my cellphone number in the last 72 hours. The guy in the U.S. I finally talked to said he was reading from "an FCC script." Is this the case? Thanks and I won't bug you folks anymore.

Bad experience with Directv call center in the Phillipines.

Bad experience with Directv call center in the Phillipines.

In that case their tech guy lied to me. That is without question what he said. I had him repeat it and then I repeated it back to him and asked "is that what you're saying?" He answered yes. As I said, I was eventually "escalated" to someone who told me I didn't have to give them a number...

Bad experience with Directv call center in the Phillipines.

The language issue was extremely frustrating. I have no problem with a foreign call center--I just couldn't understand them very well. But what really got my goat was being lied to. Obviously these reps are under some sort of pressure or incentive to get the customer to give up a cellphone...

Bad experience with Directv call center in the Phillipines.

I've had Directv for at least 15 years. I've always had great service when I've called with problems. Over the last 24 hours I've had to deal with what I was eventually told was a subcontractor in the Philippines while trying to get technical help. This not only involved serious communication...
