Yes it shows a signal whether it's hooked up or not. That's what's very confusing and hard to realize if you're actually getting a valid signal or not.

I should mention that we are on Shaw direct. They receiver is an 800 series.

So with that said, does anybody have any tips to get a dish aligned? Last time we were there we could not get a signal at all with a 60E dish and a new xKu lnb. Next try will be with a 75E and xKu lnb.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input. There are folks in the same area that have good signal at the moment with Shaw so that is why I ask. Plus, internet speeds and reliability are sketchy at best in this location unfortunately.

Sorry, that was not very helpful! I'm looking to buy a satellite locator for Shaw Direct. I'm helping someone setup a dish and we are trying to find the signal. Have not had any luck yet. Thank you for your help.
