Yes, new unit. But, I am also having an HD Tivo installed as we speak. Unfortunately, it sounds like the firmware won't be quite as slick as this dual tuner Samsung SD Tivo.

I recomend trying the 30sec skip. Since commercials are almost ALL 30 secs long, using this feature along with the skip-back-8-sec button is very easy. I suppose it is whatever you are used to. But I would at least sample both methods.

Once again: it is very easy to acivate the 30-sec jump "hidden feature" in my Tivo. Converts the jump-to-live button to 30-sec skip.

Got a round dish that is supplying all three receivers. (2-tuner Tivo and 2 regular D* receivers. The installer said when I get the HD-Tivo I will get a different dish.

There is a readily available "easter egg" key combination that enables 30-sec skip on this new Tivo I got yesterday. Search the web for it.

Update: new sub Had my new subscriber installation done today without problems. (Have been with E* 3 yrs). They installed a 2-tuner Tivo and 2 regular receivers and the requisite new dish. (And a new run of coax for the 2-tuner Tivo). All work fine. I tipped 20. I had previously talked...
