    Uplink Activity Report - 8/18/2008 6:02pm - 49 changes

The Fargo, ND locals have been active for months...at least since May. I thought they were always available? LOL Silly me. They look OK. Sometimes there's no guide info, but that has changed over the last 2-3 weeks. Using an FTA receiver for testing purposes in Canada.

    Dish SS in Canada

Actually, the 18x24 is onnly 18" tall. It's 24" wide. The Dish 500 is 20" tall. The wider surface area of the 18x24 allows for more birds to be reflected into the LNBs. It's no better than using a single 18" dish for each bird.

    Dish SS in Canada

Use a Dish 500 instead, if all you're receiving is 110/119. The 20" (extra 2" over 18") makes a big difference. About 8-12 signal points on average. If you're subbing to HD, get a second Dish 500 for 61.5W. The 12530 MHz transponder seems much weaker than the others, and it carries some of...

    Dead transponder on E3 61.5W?

Glad I wasn't imagining things... I hope they fix it or it's nothing major. Seems to have stabilized a little bit now.

    Dead transponder on E3 61.5W?

I was watching Back to the Future III on 61.5W (HBO Family HD) and the signal just went poof. The other transponders on E3 appear to be fine... Transponder 24, 12559 MHz is the culprit. Can anyone else confirm it's down? It's a clear sky here...no huge bird crap on my LNB/dish or anything :)...

    Is E6 moving to 72

Well, had a chance to play around the other night. I tried using a Dish 500 to receive 61.5 and 72.7. Keep in mind the Dish 500 is designed to receive two birds, with 9 degrees of separation. 61.5 and 72.7 are 11.2 degrees apart from each other... The result? It works. But not good enough...

    Is E6 moving to 72

Well, this is certainly good news. A poster on the other board is using a Dish 500 to receive 61.5 and 72.7. But his signal strength for 72.7 doesn't appear too fantastic. Maybe some tweaking could bring it up... I have a Dish 500 up for 61.5, and a spare LNB to play with. I'll give it a shot...

    Is E6 moving to 72

Hacking for the right reasons I guess.. heh heh. I've been into microwave communications (as a hobby) for a long time. When a new bird goes up, naturally it has me interested. I will say the day when Canadians can legally (damn the CRTC) subscribe to US providers, will be a wonderful event...

    Is E6 moving to 72

I was able to receive 72.7W last evening with an old Bell 3100/Dish 301. I think I had used transponder 21 (12516 MHz) and the signal was alright. 66-68. I'm using an old DirecTV 101/110/119 18" eliptical, and i'm in Central Canada, so that could be the reason for weak signal :) I also...

    Need help with ExpressVU Setup

Thanks to everyone who's responded so far. I guess my only concern with the SW-44, is that I'll have to run 2 more coaxial feeds from the dish location, to where each IRD is situated. The dish was installed at the time the home was constructed, as were the original 2 feedlines. The dish is on...
