I am doing a comparison right now, and the HD channel definitely looks better. Not leagues like it should be. But there is much more detail in the shots, less artifacts, and the colors are more accurate.

Terrible eyes. The color and saturation on the HD channel are more natural and there is more detail, especially on facial features.

I glanced at a couple movies last night, and they were a bit sharper than the SD version when having both paused and flipping back and forth.

Better compression schemes becoming available. But I would be willing to bet they had these launches planned in advance and spread them out over a period of time. Who knows, as long as the quality stays more or less the same. :up

To add to this sentiment. I just found out a couple of days ago that if some HD sports broadcasts go over the 4 hour mark. You can see the HD version until Dish turns it off. ;)
