    CANAM Satellites

When I signed up for Dish 4 years ago they settled on my just giving the last 4 digits of my "SSN." Because I don't have one, I used the last 4 digits of my Canadian SIN and that worked fine; as both the American and Canadian cards use the same algorithm. They might have changed it since then-...

Certain 148º Local Markets transitioning to the 110º

That is possible. However looking at the size of the spotbeam I may be in luck. As the crow flies I'm 276 miles from Great Falls; which is marginally closer than Spokane and I know I'm on the fringe of the Spokane spotbeams. I say fringe because I can get about 52 for signal strength. What...

Certain 148º Local Markets transitioning to the 110º

This is awesome news for those of us who happen to live in one of the "Northern States." ;) (The one directly north of Montana.)

    BEV CC Payments

    I wouldn't say that; it sounds strange. Besides, you don't need a 0 to dial 1-888-SKY-DISH. :)

    Calgary installers

When I used to have my dish installed I used to use Cabletronix. I know they were installing DTV; I'm not sure if they have any experience with the newer dishes though.

    BEV Questions

Just clarify; you will lose your channels after 1 week, not 2. And if you are patient enough they will eventually come back; depending on when your cycle is on your receiver they will return in about 3-4 weeks if the receiver remains in the stream.

Bell change no sales only rentals?

Looks like they are going rental only for a while. Where abouts do you live? And just to confirm; you are looking for a 5900 receiver and not a 5920 system, correct?

Using different dish than one supplied by BEV

The LNB is more important than the dish. Look for a dish that comes with a Dish Network or Echostar LNB.

    EV 91 in Seattle?

Great, I have 250 channels available to me, but because of what you said I'll be hooking my camcorder up to my TV tonight to brush my teeth. :D

    Expressvu Hockey In HDTV YES!!!

I'm still in the 20th century in regards to TV, so I took my 6100 over to a buddy's house, hooked up the dish, and we watched the Calgary- Colorado game in HD. Now, I'm not new to HD, but watching hockey on it blew me away!

Are there plans to replace Nimiq 3?

But isn't the footprint of N3 doing what Bell intended? Better signal in northern parts of Canada. Not that it helps people in Florida, but if it was their intention to not service the US, then it's doing what they want it to.

Still 0% signal strength on 5800...

Something I've just thought of, but have never tried, so I can;t say if it's a fair test, or if it will break your receiver.............. The receiver is supposed to be putting out power for the LNB and/or the switch. What if you used a voltage meter and checked to see what is coming...

    20" dish, 2xLNB's, one non-HDTV receiver?

You can buy an "I-bracket." www.dishstore.net sells them http://www.dishstore.net/product_info.php?cPath=38&products_id=146 I was thinking of trying this myself. I would think it would be better.

    NHL Centre Ice Dilemma

Well, I solved my dilema. Found a mistake on Bell's website: "http://www.bell.ca/shop/PrsShpTvPPV_SportsDetail.page?PackageId=LNH®%20Centre%20Ice®" (enter the address without the quotes.) It is in French, but the meat of it says $100 until September 23rd.

    Expressvu 9200 In The Flesh!!!

Scott, do you have another receiver hooked up along with your 6000? It was my understanding that for DPP to work with legacy, you need to have at least one DP receiver hooked up as well.

    Expressvu 9200 In The Flesh!!!

Usually this site shows what transponders carry what: http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/expressvu1.html However I noticed that the NFL-ST transponders aren't listed. Maybe they will be updated next week; after the first Sunday has gone by.

    Expressvu 9200 In The Flesh!!!

The one thing I'll add to what you said, techdood, is that if you are in the western parts of North America, sometimes going with 2 dishes gives you a much better signal. Keep in mind the "2 satellites 9 degress apart" is a Dish Network idea, and Dish didn't use a crippled spacecraft for...

    DSR505 Price Drop on Kusat.com

The Source (Formerly Radio Shack up here) put them on for $199 last week, but they were out of stock. (go figure.) Looks like they have them now. Good to see prices dropping. http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=StarChoice&product=1528165

Packaging and Pricing for Star Choice

The one thing with Spokane & Seattle, and the "poor man's Sunday Ticket"......... if there a Seahawks home game that's blacked out, the Spokane stations will carry it. However if you are a Seahawks fan, there's more Seahawks programs; especially on Fox. Solution, get the HD receiver, and for...

    Does dish size matter?

Did he take your 20" dish with him? As Iceberg says, it doesn't make much difference. But if at some point you want to add programming from the second satellite; you would need either the 20" dish, or to install a second dish to along with your 18" one.

    DVR Blowout 501/508

Can anybody tell me what info is required to pick one of these up? The reason I ask is this- I live in one of the far northern states (North of Montana) ;) so I was hoping I could get a friend in the US to pick one up, ship it up to me, then I can call Dish to activate it. I know with Bell...
