Need North America Satellite .bin file for Satlink WS-6906

I've considered the limited signals and other points you made. Maybe get something else? If so, definitely a similar unit. The V8 Satfinder 2 seems too cheap, but maybe? It's not like I have to get a new digital tuner, it's just a luxury. Less leg work. In the past I was satisfied using my...

Tips and Advice for Setting up Hughesnet Raven and GTMedia V7

Hopefully you can map out another spot where it can receive signal. If you have not done so already, try www.dishpointer.com - just enter the exact latitude and longitude where you want to put the dish then select the satellite you want to 'see' and a green line will appear. Zoom in, look along...

Tips and Advice for Setting up Hughesnet Raven and GTMedia V7

Hi I had decided to connect the meter and try to get a signal while the dish was on the ground and it worked. I put my dish on the pole and it seems like a bearing mango tree I have is in the way. I plan on putting in another pole.

Who is allowed to take part in the FTA hobby?

I must say I find it a bit funny, or maybe ironic, that a ham radio operator would be posting this, given that many hams have held similar attitudes toward non-hams that dabbled in any kind of technology. I am old enough to remember how contemptuously some hams viewed CB radio operators back in...

General question about how signal loss manifests...

Still doesn't mean it would pass the QC testing done on an installation ... Fwiw, there are techs that are better than others that may have found your location, many look at the over all and say, they can't get a signal with a passing QC test and move on ...

General question about how signal loss manifests...

I really didn't mean or expect my post to provoke any controversy, and as I said, I don't feel like arguing about it. I think you're looking at it from a tech's perspective, but you're totally skipping over much of what I'm saying. You are again saying all sorts of things that would be knowledge...

General question about how signal loss manifests...

Already installed. We tried through DTV - the installer was ill-prepared - did not have tall enough ladder, did not know how to deal with asbestos siding, did not have a plan for dealing with trees, did not have pole mounts or want to use the ones I provided, etc. Dealing with DTV was...

HEY INSTALLERS: You do what you do best. Let us handle the rest.

Being a home theater, corporate A/V, mobile, or marine installer is a lot harder than it used to be. Friends, I go back a little while and when I did a lot of stuff out in the field it was a lot easier to make money. Why? Because it really took an expert to do this stuff. Whether it was just...

    Found a C band dish.Now what?

Well this is certainly interesting to learn! In my case, I think I have more chances of a tree falling on my dish then high speed winds twisting it...

    How things have changed

Sat can croak right along with cable as far as I'm concerned (maybe faster, without robust broadband attached to it). It started out as a primo, desirable service at a great price but was quickly run into the ground by its lack of quality servicing and rate hikes, with Charlie having said it was...

How often does rain fade happen to satellite receivers?

Rain fade. If you listen to cable company commercials, you would think this is a massive problem. They’ll tell you that every time the skies turn grey, the satellite reception will stop. They’ll make you feel like a sap for even considering satellite TV. The problem is, they’re just flat out...

    Help

A bonding wire has already been run to this dish waiting for the new rod to be driven into the ground at the dish. It runs from a sub-panel at the back of the house that branches off of the main panel. A certified electrician has checked all this and signed off on everything. I have to take...

    Help

IF you pound a new ground rod into the ground by the dish, it MUST be bonded to your house ground rod by your power panel per NEC code. Otherwise it's almost guaranteed to cause problems due to two different ground potentials at each rod.

    Help

I never connect or disconnect anything without powering them down first. Even the HDMI cable. I also checked output voltage from the receiver to the LNBF. Everything normal there and from the wall wart supplying power to the receiver. I have a 30 amp, filtered and regulated power supply for my...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

I don't have numbers, but this is what I remember: - the entire reflector is a bit too heavy for one guy to carry (plus it's big and awkward). - Each quarter pannel is easy to lift, but still a bit bulky and awkward to carry. - there's a round reinforcement tube that makes a circle of around 7ft...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

Ideally you can stand on the roof to dismantle rather than use ladders. I would loosen the bolts so you can spin it on the pole to a good position to work. I would first unbolt the actuator from the mount so it will hang on the dish. This will prevent you poking a hole in the mesh if the dish...

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

Do you know roughly how heavy the dish is? I’m a bit concerned how high it’s mounted but if it’s not that heavy then shouldn't be an issue.

Trying to get into C-Band, may have found a dish?

$45 is an awesome price! I would suggest you take it down, possibly with assistance from the seller, but that you lead the effort. Those things need to be taken down carefully... I've read too many stories of people like us who were so happy to have found a nice dish in great shape, only to go...

    Help

I did and everything was within range. I've had two different LNBF's on it and located another last evening I may try if the rain let's up today. It's weird it took so many receivers to finally get a picture and signal. When I first started realigning the dish, the meter kept pegging out and...

    SiriusXM channels missing

I'm going to be honest - this has been communicated in many different ways to agents and there are multiple tools that would help with understanding the cause of missing channels. The outage has made everything MUCH more difficult though, but any feedback should be sent through your...

    SiriusXM channels missing

    Error 1523

I know this post is a little old, but if someone new happens to find this string looking for the answer to the 1523 error, the cable is most likely the culprit. Either loose connections, corroded wires or bad cable. This past winter I cut my cable with my tractor. As a quick remedy, I did a bush...
